The stuff with family Picard is irksome. Bigging up Mama Picard isn't necessarily a bad thing , but for the dialogue.

Her little line about Robert essentially fucking off to school and Jean Luc bring the one stayed home on the vineyard

These people can't help illustrating the fact over and over that they never watched the source material

And to round off this character assassination:

The official site is publishing opinion pieces that seem to push justications for a more violent Seven of Nine in Picard.

She isn't even a little unique. I feel like every goldshirt since Tasha Yar has been "angry, violent, and vengeful."
Wow, but I mean think about women in stem representation Wouldn’t it break gender stereotypes to have a stoic, scientifically minded female character that doesn’t express overt emotions?

Read the article, literally another “hardened badass does tough things to show they are badass”

Fucking kill me.

Roddenberry managed to create such a character for his mistress in the first pilot.

Come to think of it, weren't Jeri Ryan and Brannon Braga involved for a while?

Maybe the only way to portray a stoic, scientifically minded woman on Star Trek is to have sex with a producer.

Jeri dated Brannon when she wasn’t getting along with Kate Mulgrew. It was a case of bitchy co worker that makes life miserable so I’ll date the boss as a shield.

But yeah reading the article it’s just “hard ass woman fights bad guys with no moral restraints to hold her back”

As if we haven’t seen similar action girl plots for the last thirty years.

It goes on to ignore Kara Thrace, Susan Ivanova, and a host of other characters who did it better decades ago.

A Star Trek fan has launched a petition to have the live-action Star Trek shows created by producer Alex Kurtzman designated as non-canon.

You don't need a petition to do that. They are non-canon shit. Period.
I've seen whatever series this is using designs from STO, basically fooling ST fans into thinking the new trek stuff is now worth a damn. I've talked with ship autists before, they reeee if the Yorktown or Miranda class isn't designed exactly right.
But I want to address Canon. I regard it in 3 categories.
>Corporate Canon
>Fandom Canon
>Personal Canon
Corporate is whatever the corporation says is canon to get you to buy more shit. I know this is Star Trek thread but let me use Star Wars because at this point what's the difference, it's Prequel, Original, Sequel trilogies, Mandalorian and whatever they're putting out these days. It doesn't matter if it's good quality, only if it makes money.
Fandom is regarded as the core block of required viewing to be a fan of said franchise. For Star Wars that would whatever Lucas worked on, so Prequel and Original. You can then debate if it's any good or not.
Personal is what you consider Canon, for me this would be Lucas's films but also the better parts of pre-disney EU. Kotor, Thrawn and Kyle Katarn for example. It takes existing canon but since there's secondary sources tied to it that expand the universe in a good way, I tie them in as well.

Circling back around, Nu-Trek is Corporate Canon trying to convince people it's Fandom Canon while most original series and TNG fans are stuck in Personal Canon. And they're not budging either, because they've seen how bad stuff like Picard and Discovery are. Doomcock did a video on this and I feel he needs to learn the differences of Canon before he can actually learn to let go of his hate and simmer down a bit inside that helmet.

Fun Fact: Jeri Ryan was actually married to a (Republican) politician for the first few years she was on Voyager. They were divorced by 1999 though, so her dating Brannon actually tracks... but eww, that still seems kind of skeevy.
Even Funner Fact: It's been said before that Ryan's exe-husband most likely lost his 2004 Senate race against Barack Obama (yes, obviously *that* Barack Obama) mostly because of how nasty their divorce was. And we all know what that led to...

AHAHAHAHAHAAH Picard sounds like grandpa Simpson when he says 'computer, activate self-destruct'. God this is going to be hilarious

Ok soooooo. Opening scene, people running on a ship with ALERT CONDITION RED, with Star Trek 2009 style titly cam. Borg thing on bridge killing bitches, Picard orders self destruct.

and the ALERT CONDITION RED is from the Wrath of Khan

This show is so bad, I think it gave me cancer. No amount of alcohol can make it better. Fuck Picard is so passive. He just stands around like a lost old man. Not you know an Admiral who is famous for his steely determination, and morals. He is the fucking ranking officer, they should be looking to him to decide the strategic direction.

No one acts like real star trek officers. Its full of teen drama bullshit. 7's anti-borgness makes this all feel like a shit version of undiscovered country. First JJ rapes wrath of khan with the utter steaming pile of shit into darkness, now his looser of a minion is doing the same thing. Death is too good for these cunts. They must suffer.

And then the preview for the rest of the season, OMG this looks worse then anyone could possibly imagine.

Picard's mom getting beat up is more Patrick Steward meddling. Shaka when the walls fell, Picard doesn't have to have your fucking exact life you senile bald fuck. And what is up with all this shit about Picard trying to tap that romulan GMILF? The dudes almost 100, stop trying to get his dick wet. It's gross and no one wants it.

And why isn't anyone fucking professional? Have these writers ever had a real job? Fuck me, my coworkers at my first shitty job when I was a teen were more professional than the crew of fucking STD.

In the novelverse seven’s Borgness eventually disappears with the whole Caeliar intervention. Whether or not you like Destiny or the Caeliar-at the very least it’s handled in a way that is both deeply resonant and consequential.

But yeah gotta humiliate every White male protagonist. Such is the game.

Not only that but didn't her romulan husband die off-screen? I can't stand the writers of these recent years, they claim that they want to talk about emotions but all we get is characters being promiscuous, 2 characters met a couple of hours ago, now they're so "in love" that they break up the next day and have sex with the entire town. Now they pretend that Jay-El never loved a woman in his life other than his mother, that he's some kind of incel because he doesn't try to have sex with every women who smile at him? It's like no one in the writers' room know that he loved Beverly since the first day he met her.

Supposedly they've patched things up since then.

Maybe get Jeri onboard for a role on Prodigy?

The weird thing is that they seem to have picked up on two legitimate aspects of Picard's backstory - his clearly having had a close relationship with his mother and still being affected by her loss, as we saw in that early TNG episode where he encountered an illusory version of her, and his regrets about prioritizing his career over having a family, which was one of the several gajillion plot threads that went into Generations - and then smashed them together in a way that makes absolutely no sense.

Incidentally, the new showrunner apparently wrote for Enterprise during the Coto era, which probably explains why the episode felt like it was written by someone who'd actually bothered to watch a few episodes of TNG, which is more than can be said of the first season.
