This Ukraine good/Russia bad thing has been astroturfed, right? Because that's the only explanation I have for why a small business in my tiny town has an electric sign outside flashing "Pray for Ukraine".
It's a virtue signal. Remember, they wanted COVID out of the news. More importantly, they wanted COVID out of the minds of the fuckwit activist types. Gotta replace the void with something.

My parents were outside today to deal with the bank, so I asked them if everyone out was still wearing masks. They were.

The only question now is, are they crazy enough to try it?
Do you really need to ask that question?
Oh geez, are we turning into Russia now?!
Well, considering the Russian Air Force is optimistically at 50% and with a far, far smaller air fleet... no. 70% of an air force so big number 2 is the United States Navy is still pretty damn good. Really, really needs to be around 80% at a minimum though, preferably 90-95% at least, but even so we're not fucked.

Protip: if you included everything that's been mothballed properly as opposed to stuff that's merely in active service, the USAF is larger than every other nation's air force combined. Hell, we might even be able to compete on the world stage if we somehow got magically teleported to Strangereal, the USAF is that fucking big.

What the USN and USAF has stored at the AMARC is larger than Russia's air force. And probably in better condition.

This is what scares me about this President and leads me to believe that he doesn't know what's going on. I know Reagan was losing a step when he left office, (It was what... '92 when he owned up to having Alzheimer's if I remember correctly and bowed out from the public eye).

I was 8 years old when Reagan left office and I remember watching his press conferences with my Grandfather.... he was pretty on point even at the end of his presidency. He gave as good as he got.

I've never seen anything like this. If this was 1985 (a year into Reagan's second term... not his first like Biden) and his staffers were acting like this, my Grandfather (who thought Reagan walked on water) would be calling for blood.... and an impeachment.

The fact that they're actively shutting down the press means that there is a problem in the Executive branch (and the fact that the press isn't crucifying him for it, means that there is a problem in the media).

At heart, I'm a 90's Democrat who's a little more fiscally conservative... which in the modern lexicon means that I'm an Alt Right White Supremacist (and if you look at my wife and kids, I'm really bad at being a white supremacist).

We do not have competent governance under Joe Biden and we are sitting on a knife's edge that could land us into WWIII.

Trump is the worst puppet Russia could have asked for. He sanctioned a pipeline they wanted to build to increase their wealth and Europe's dependency on them, deterred them from realizing territorial ambitions, pulled out of a one-side nuclear agreement that would have given an ally of Russia in Iran potential for a nuclear weapon, and produced enough oil that the USA was a net exporter and lessened the USA's reliance on Russian oil.
I've posted pretty much the same thing on lib posts posts online. It's perfect because it puts them in an endless loop of rage. The next best thing to do is ask them what Biden did that was harsher than that, it makes them spin like crazy, lmao.
They think the clapback of "He's a Russian Asset of course they wouldnt attack" is good apparently.
Cuz yaknow, nothing says puppet government than NOT using it when they get in power.
According to a really shit take from the happenings thread, Putin didn't invade Ukraine when Trump was in office was because he wasn't afraid of Trump. Biden's presidency apparently scared him so bad that he bombed a country despite Joe saying he won't do anything. It somehow was the shittiest take in a thread of shit takes.

Lol, are you new to this word game the crazy left are playing?
You think this will buy absolution with them?

No, the way they will phrase this is "...so you admit you have a subservient minority sex-servant..."
You can not win against them with logic. Only fist to the face.

Exactly. The only way you can "convince" them to change is with force. You may beat them, shove a gun into their side, and they'd happily aquiesce to your points. In fact, if you shoot them, they'd happily agree to anything you say!

Not entirely. Most "normies" don't fully understand the nuance, complexity, and history of global politics and a lot probably didn't know Ukraine existed before now. So to them Russia looks like an unwarranted aggressor against a state that was minding its own business. Which, I think to anyone who isn't a "zomg Russia baste against globohomo" Russophile...it's hard to say they aren't.

You also have the added "benefit" on 4+ years of "muh Russia" brainwashing, but even if you didn't have that, we would be seeing the same thing.

Ukraine has only fully existed as Ukraine since like 1990, but they are still sovereign and Daddy Vladdy is just larping as the USSR and using the same reasoning to take Ukraine as his butt buddy Xi uses to try and get Taiwan. Before anyone reeeeeees at me I've stated numerous times I don't think this is worth killing Americans over.

I get that, and you're right. The thing that unsettles me is the virtue signaling, like @HTTP Error 404 pointed out. There have been invasions and fighting all over the world between countries, and I've never seen so many people take the side they've been "told to" before so quickly. At least in the middle east we were sold the tale that we had to fight to protect oil or to fight terrorists. US citizens have no real vested interest in this battle or war or whatever it is.

One day, a democrat went "Those policies Trump made aren't doing anything, life is only good with him in charge cause of what Obama did!" and realized their voting base was actually stupid enough to believe it, and now we have people disregarding basic pattern recognition cause "things only suck with a democrat in charge cause of the guy before him" just like "things are only good under bad Orange man cause of Obama"
They did that with Bush and Clinton Too.
