(Reuters) - Several Russian banks said on Sunday they would soon start issuing cards using the Chinese UnionPay card operator's system coupled with Russia's own Mir network, after Visa and MasterCard said they were suspending operations in Russia.
Announcements regarding the switch to UnionPay came on Sunday from Sberbank, Russia's biggest lender, as well as Alfa Bank and Tinkoff.

I had to look up Unionpay, and I'm actually surprised how much cash is being cleared through it. (It already exists here, but it is not typically the first option for most commercial credit cards. It is, however, widely accepted here since we do get a lot of Chinese tourists.)

Yeah.. idk if Unionpay os the same as Alipay but right now in the US alipay is all over the place but is used mostly for Chinese transactions. It won't be hard for them to open it up to non Chinese and if they ever do Visa/Mastercard/PayPal is fucked.

The labs are placed in chosen locations around the world to allow for research into the local fauna. There's no point researching a mosquito borne bioweapon to target your enemy when the mosquito can't live north of the equator. You also want to be able to research how the critters live in their normal environment. You will want to have a plentiful supply of whatever animal you've chosen as the disease vector and you want to make it so it doesn't come back on you when you release it. The problem with biological warfare, and why it's never really been used, is how indiscriminate it is. The weaponized pathogen is as likely to kill your people as it is the enemy's.

So yes there's very good reasons as to why the burgers have put their WMD bio labs right next to the Russian border.

One thing to keep in mind is the climate. The south is also usually considerably drier than the north. Probably makes for easier army movement.

What the fuck are the Russians thinking driving through a one lane unpaved road in the middle of the forest that gives partisans cover and makes it so taking out the front and rear vehicle makes it literally impossible to go offroad and get around, without a fucking infantry or fighting vehicle escort.
