World of Warcraft

Now he can be a good little fanfiction writer and ship her as he pleases and think its not as horrible as it went in shadowlands.

Gotta say 9.2 is kinda annoying. Things are way overtuned and I'm heroic geared from sanctum with double sylvanas daggers. It should not hurt this much to kill a rare.
It's all fucked. 10.0 needs to be amazing or the game might just sink permanently.

The sad thing is, the potential for Sylvansas' character to have a "redemption" arc was their....

...over a decade ago during WotLK.
Sylvanas wasn't really in need of a 'redemption' arc back then. She was just some edge-lord 'tortured/shades of grey' character who was doing her best while seething over Arthas and what he'd done to her.

The subsequent shit like with burning Teldrassil, etc. necessitated a 'redemption' arc in order to rehabilitate her character, particularly since they built such a wobbly foundation that required Sylvanas to be a focal point. This goes into how Vol'jin was slotted in lightning-quick fashion and how Sylvanas' importance was played up by the loa or spirits or whatever.

The problem is that Danuser (beyond being a shit writer and storyteller) is very ham-fistedly trying to force Sylvanas down everyone's throats so she 'needs' a redemption arc.

There's potential for a story where Sylvanas continues to be an ice-cold bitch and is just a ruthless character who does things her way or whatever. There's also potential for a story arc where she does get redeemed or turned into a more virtuous character which, while really fucking overdone, is still a tried and true story that people enjoy.

What we got was some fan fiction level nonsense that came at the expense of other established characters. It's no different than some idiot introducing their OC character and having them come off as awesome and kewl while cutting off the legs of existing characters.

The boner Danuser has for Sylvanas is ridiculous. Afriasiabi did nothing wrong.

E: And piling all this crap with Sylvanas on Furor doesn't make any sense when the wheels were in motion with her since at least like 2014 or so, which is when Legion would've started development (announced August 2015 and released in 2016.) It also doesn't make any sense if you have any idea how creative environments like that work. The narrative that Alex came in and kicked over Danuser's pretty narrative sandcastle doesn't hold any water.

I think there's a marginally better Shadowlands story if you just make her a smug bitch who shit talks everyone every time she shows up. Make her the main villain where in 9.1 she shoots the Jailer in the back when he gets all the sigils and gives him some smug speech asking if he was really so stupid that he thought she would really work for him before running off with the sigils to try and become the Queen of Death, and in 9.2 we try to stop her. This doesn't really fix the story because there's still a ton of other problems but at least makes Sylvanas a possibly fun if schlocky villain and not Danuser's special waifu who can do no wrong.

I read that title and, for a second, I thought that the next WoW expansion was going to revolve around being a mobile game for some reason.

Like, they were going to retool the whole game to revolve around being an mobile phone game. Of course that is utterly retarded, but I wouldn't put it past modern Blizzard to try something like that.

Anyways, they're going to be disappointed if they're expecting the same success they got with Hearthstone. The market has changed a lot since 2014 and you're not going to make waves unless your game does something at least somewhat innovative, and considering this is Blizzard we're talking about...

The only question I have about the next expansion is whether it's gonna be a last gasp or a cadaveric spasm.

even hearthstone wasn't that innovative, they just managed to fill a segment no one seriously tried to fill till at that point (and I don't consider shitpiles like MTGO "serious" at all). any other game with enough polish and no entry fee would've equally made bank long before HS.
interestingly with HS showing there's money to be made, the digital cardgame market didn't really improve that much, besides setting the bar higher for polish and usability. also proper netrunner client never fucking ever...

The raid cutscenes are out... turns out the Jailer wanted to rewrite reality to unite the cosmos against an even BIGGER threat! So it's Sargeras. Again.
Riveting stuff, truly.
The only thing scarier than Sargeras is a bigger and meaner Sargeras, with two world piercing swords... Maybe he'll even be the guy from Starcraft because a game about space wars and politics needed to be a love story with Zerg Sargeras.

This doesn't begin to describe the best part of the whole cutscene where the Jailer turns into a robot when he dies. No really:
Not to toot my own horn or anything but
I've always said that at some point something becomes bad enough that you start rooting for it to be as bad as possible, and WoW's story may actually be approaching that mythical "bad as possible"

Did they ever reveal what the nigger did in the first place to get cast out or is it just generic "he didn't agree with us" bullshit?

Ouch, that's some view/like ratio, right there.

how much do you bet that the mobile game is the Pokemon Go Ripoff?

I was just thinking about that this morning when I read the news. It's literally going to be the timegated bullshit quests from the Garrisons from WoD as 'research' and, if they're feeling daring, a little bit of Pokemon Go inspired GPS gaming. I assume the narrative will be something like "Champion, there are incursions from other worlds and Dark Portals are opening, forces of evil are pouring into our world from all manner of alternate timelines, you must use venture forth with your elite squad and defend the realm!" and then you just go to these places, do quick battles and receive in-game rewards like some kind of currency, weapons to give your units and Heroes ranging from Common to Legendary.

If they're smart they'll ramp up the production and have things like AU characters that fight for you like heroic Garrosh or Arthas or incursions from worlds where the Orcs won WC1 or a world where Humans drank the Demon Blood and now they're the ones ravening through the universes looking for new places to conquer.

Just kidding lol, that would take effort, it's going to be absolutely fuck all

Wasn't it like "He wanted to go to special place, but that's against the rules and he wouldn't stop trying" or some shit?
Maybe? I don't really know, and I don't think anyone really knows or cares what he's about. Here's what I don't get, if he's a robot and completely artificial, why the fuck does he even know about the special place to begin with? I'm not someone who really nitpicks story that much, but what the fuck.
