If she manages this I will be very impressed. Sticking with something for 40 days is at least a start to developing follow-through. Who knows, maybe it'll be enough to break the dopamine craving that keeps her tied to it. (Of course, if she starts cheating on day 2 I'll be utterly unsurprised.)

It's not an obligation. Giving up something for Lent was definitely something I didn't do as a kid, and we were raised Catholic and went to a Catholic school. If it was a personal choice, I have the feeling that it's been amplified by social media whores, which is very appropriate that Shoe's doing it.

Either way, if you do it, you shouldn't announce the world you are doing it.
