Concerning Disney's recent backpedaling over Florida's Don't Say Gay bill, Governor DeSantis made a pretty devastating point:

Good fucking question, Ron. In fact, the Chinese Communist Party literally has a straight-up No Gays Allowed rule. China forbids depicting effeminate-looking -- "gay" looking -- men anywhere. And yet, Disney hasn't said a fucking word about that. I wonder why....?

Here's the full video of DeSantis telling Bob Chapek to go pound Chinese sand:

From Randy Newman and Peter Gabriel to Billie Eyelash. Fuck me. *sigh*
iirc this is in the wake of Cheapek putting out a statement of "I called DeSantis! A bloo bloo bloo! See you next gay days give money."

You would think Disney would throw a few stacks at NSYNC or the Backstreet Boys considering how hard this movie is trying to use the 2000s boy band craze as nostalgiabait, guess not.

for that matter there should be at least one or two B-/C+ boy bands from around then that they own at this point
Yes, but then they could brag about how DIVERSE AND INCLUSIVE the band is!

Seriously, find a picture of the boy band, it’s literally the “multi racial tv gang” joke from Family Guy played completely straight.

Shi and cho are lying to themselves, living in a fabricated past that never existed. there's something about the culture, the fashion and the music that is so specific and funny.' bullshit. But hey the target audience for turning red lives in a fantasy world fueled by nostalgia and member berries so it only makes sense the creators do too.

Can someone to explain me why anyone is nostalgic for the 2000s? From what I remember, it was a pretty shitty and miserable time.

Shitty boy bands, 9/11 hurricane Katrina, the war on terror the war in Iraq, the election of multiple idiots for presidents, the death of 2D animation, the rise of shitty direct to dvd Disney sequels...oh yeah perfect material for a new Pixar movie let's also rewrite the era to reflect our shitty current one too

I'd see too much already.

I wonder how many people of the people behind Turning Red are "women"
Funny you should mention that since this was recommended to me when the movie wrapped up.

I think its that this level of the world being fucked up makes those days look normal and by that logic in 20 years people will be nostalgic for the 2020s.
I wouldn't go that far about the 2020s, but I agree about the 2000s. Yes, it was a load of shit, but it wasn't as shit as the times are presently.

Shitty boy bands,
They have been with us since the English Invasion with the Beatles and Rolling Stones. And they be here long after our grandchildren are dead and buried in one form or another.
the election of multiple idiots for presidents,
Last U.S. President who wasn't an idiot and/or fucked over the United States and the world every which way known to man was Coolidge.
