Gentlemen, ladies, genderblobs, I was angry before - tonight I'm actually getting uneasy. In my part of the country, we don't have gas shortages, unless a small town gets snowed in or a storm blocks a highway or something like that. I have, in all my years, never seen gas stations run out of gas. That doesn't fucking happen here. Not until this week.

Over the past couple days I've noticed station after station closing a couple pumps or running out of everything except diesel and 87, that happens from time to time - I get it. What doesn't happen is gas stations only turning on one or two of the pumps all over the city. What doesn't happen is stations running out of literally everything. Not during Covid, not under Bush, not when Katrina fucked supply lines. I've already been stocking up on food, but I legit didn't think gas would actually RUN OUT anytime soon. Gonna go buy some jerrycans tomorrow morning and start preparing for shortages, cuz they're fucking coming.

If you really want to get pissed about it, look up how much the USA has in oil reserves, and how many oil wells and pipelines we have, right here at home.
There is no need to be dependent on foreign oil, but politics.

I brought home 25 gallons in cans 2 days ago
There were long lines at the gas station. The guy in front of me must have put about a gallon in his car because the hose was only in for a few seconds.
The grocery store had a limit on how much milk you can buy.
Everything is going to be much more expensive in 2 weeks.
Two months ago I was amazed at how much damage Brandon was able to do in a year. Those now qualify as The Good Old Days.

Cats will one hundred percent smug right in yoru face like that. He finds your lack of an aggressive response humorous, but he just can't find out what you might be planning. Smug is defensive, but it's also used to mock you.

Folks are just keepign topped up or even storing some now before it climbs more. I do believe it will return to normal soon, it will find it's balance is my guess. Steady increase from week to week, but little to no jumps every two or three days.

Soon is relative in this case I sadly think. There will be no relief for months at the earliest, and that's assuming this war stays contained to Ukraine and Russia.

Even prices levelling off at current values will put serious hurt on things. For example, depending on your location, I would seriously consider now watching where you park your vehicle. Not unlikely we start seeing the local delinquients turn from stealing wiring to gas siphoning thanks to current costs.

I probably worded that badly, I mean the every couple days jumps would stop, but the gas was gonna keep going up, only just once a week. I don't think an average of 5-6 bucks nation wide is out of the question.

A nearby gas station ran out of gas last week where I am as well and I'm not in a very busy area nor have I ever seen it happen until then. Things are not very good.

We (meaning the U.S. and probably some other countries) don't even need to use $1.2 million drones. There are now disposable one-use drones where the drone itself carries the payload, rather than carrying a missile, and the operator of the UAV simply kamikazes whatever is the target. Zelensky having to personally address this in front of the country in the middle of the war shows how worried they are about this issue and how damaging its already been. If they could have, they would have just ignored the whole thing.

Well, Zelensky probably doesn't have much else to do but do PR for his country right now. Most of the work is being done by actual military people, diplomats, and so on.

Plus they might not feel they have the luxury of ignoring anything at the moment. For example I keep seeing people here speculating/suggesting Zelensky has long since fled the country. Such thoughts are kind of understandable given the risks involved in remaining in Kiev, and how modern technology would make it easy to do his videos remotely. However without any evidence, it's a fairly absurd claim to make.

Yet it'd also be helpful to Russia and damaging to Ukraine's morale if he or his advisors had indeed done that. So countering such idle thoughts is probably why Zelensky and his advisors keep posting videos like this one from a couple weeks ago, this one from a couple days ago showing him in Kiev, or his defense minister posting pictures like this to twitter:

Just to reinforce their claim that they're still at the capital. It helps keep the rumor from taking hold, keeping morale up because people feel their government(who even sitting in the capital still has yet to be in any significant danger) hasn't run out on them.

You see that with other things as well. Video appears to show Putin's hand going through the microphone giving the impression he isn't there? Zelensky moves his microphone in his next video as a dig at it.

So something like Russia claiming bio-weapons in Ukraine? Yeah that'd warrant having Zelensky call it bullshit ASAP.
