I garden extensively. I ferment and can my own kraut, make jars of pickles, etc. I make my own sausage 50 lbs at a time. I buy meat on sale and vacuum pack and freeze it. I dehydrate veggies and vacuum pack those, too. I have two freezers full of turkeys, chickens, and other meats. I have a generator for power to run said freezers in case power goes out (but now question how I can afford to keep enough gas on hand to run it long term?). I have a pantry chock full of dry and canned goods. I have a dozen propane tanks kept full to run my grill and several cords of wood to run my smokers or use in the fireplace for heat. I have a complete first aid kit and pharmaceutical cabinet that is stocked with antibiotics and other drugs that would be useful in an emergency. And I have 1000s of rounds of ammo to match each caliber for every firearm I own. I've been wanting to build a chicken coop and raise some chickens. Even though I live in suburbia, it's legal to have chickens here and I see more and more people embracing this idea.

The kids used to shrug this off as "Dad, why do you do all this? You can just go to the store and buy this stuff if you need it." Suddenly, the light bulb is flickering on with them -- what if you go to the store and there isn't any of this to buy? The son wants me to teach him how to make sausage and can. He's also gotten guns and is stocking ammo. He sees the value of good shotgun and we were discussing several via text last night. One of the daughter's wants to learn how to garden. She's always had a black thumb and could kill a houseplant by looking at it, so I don't know if there's any hope there, but dammit, I'll try. It isn't me preaching to them that has done this. They're seeing what is happening with their own eyes and realizing dear old dad might have some wisdom they didn't have in their youth.

The bottom line of all this is simple. My family comes first and given the rapid onset of decline we're seeing (empty shelves, supply chain issues, tremendous energy costs), if you haven't already taken steps to help mitigate/survive what's coming, you're waaaay behind the power curve at this point. Get busy. There isn't one motherfucker in DC that is going to feed your family when the shit hits the fan thanks to the current demented asshole running things. You're gonna get hand-waved away and told to figure it out yourself. No amount of inflated stimulus money is going to help you buy something that isn't there.

Me, doomer? NO. I'm practical. And fuck it, I'm self-reliant as I can be to weather the oncoming storm whether it be a small political dust devil or a full-blown F4 tornado. It's absolutely silly not to be.

Certain crimes make you ineligible to run for office, such a treason, as can convictions during an impeachment for several crimes if the senate chooses to include it as part of whatever penalty is assigned following a conviction. Thats why the left was rabid about wanting trump to be impeached and convicted. Its also why they're still trying to go after him via the treason angle for the january 6 stuff

As for solar its not a good investment if you're planning on something long term. Solar panels have limited lifespans, break easily and aren't always the easiest, or cheapest things to replace. In terms of a survival situation they're useless in anything but the short term. Don't plan any kind of survival situation that relies on them very heavily

Here is the thing, you are wrong and it is bat shit why.

Treason, felonies, any legal thing short of impeachment -from sitting office- do not disqualify someone from running for President.


Constitutionally, the only time disqualification comes up is only ever in relation to impeachment from standing office.


Addition: What you are likely thinking of is various state election omnibus bills. The thing is, they-do not apply- to the Presidency. Only local or state level politicians. It's an amazing oversight.
