Can confirm, it is possessive. That's just how Russian language works. Instead of "'s" we add one of multiple different letters at the end of the person's name (which letter is added generally depends on the name and gender, but for male names it's "a" 95% of the time). For example, "Sneed's Feed and Seed" becomes "Korm i zerno Sneeda".

The other weird thing is it's "Karsona" and not "Karlsona" as Russian does have an L instead of just using an R sound like Japanese does with something like "ra" being pronounced is "la".

This could just be lack of research - they never bothered to look up the name and wrote it down as they heard it. Won't be the first time that kind of thing happened.

Some of my friends are getting on my nerves, they have found new life purpose in helping out (driving to the border, picking up people from Ukrainian border and driving them to the cities in poland, donating stuff, my one friend just bought a campervan specifically to give Ukrainian family a place to sleep).

Turns out Canada, despite all of its posturing, is only making it easier for hohols to apply for refugee status, not actually bringing them over.

My guess is that like they have shown in Kherson, they will force southern and maybe some of the other eastern regions to become breakaway states. Then put up a puppet government in Kiev that will encompass central and western Ukraine, which they'll just let nearly instantly collapse since holding those regions under their direct influence will prove to be extremely difficult, and potentially nearly impossible with the upcoming economic crisis Russia faces. Might as well focus on the only regions with a large enough Russian population that they mighy have a chance at holding for any significant period.

Like, how much emphasis the US Army has placed on "We own the night", with the use of NVGs. The problem is that while it allowed them to use their technological supremacy against an inferior enemy, it's totally fucked against an actual military.

NVGs aren't a massive advantage when the other side has them as well. And more then that, they've developed doctrine that is dependent on the other side not having NVGs. Like how IR lasers and lights became the de-facto way to aim weapons while using NVGs. Easy way to aim, but if the other side also has NVGs, they are just a massive beacon to show them exactly where you are:

It's fun to laugh at Russia's growing pains at the start of the invasion, but the American military is probably in for one hell of a reality check if it ever deviates from its current track record of only militarily pubstomping n00bs.

That is still just in the context of earlier gen no color nvg. There's some crazy equipment now that can process full color and make night look like it is actually day.

The best part about all these brave people bringing Ukrainians into Poland is that when Russia inevitably annexes Ukraine and it starts to normalise and it's safe, they'll go back there, right?

Even if Russia loses and Ukraine drives every last one of them out, few of those brave people will have any interest in going home. Free entry in the EU is a dream for them.

Now this is all good and shows great empathy (albeit not completely selfless because a lot of the pictures and videos showing their activism get posted on their social media accounts, so yeah a bit self serving) BUT we are about have a very serious humanitarian crisis.

Where is EU? Where is Frontex? Where is UNICEF? They need to get their fucking shit together and start getting some of these people transported elsewhere.

Warsaw can't cope for much longer and soon we will have thousands of people including children sleeping and shitting on the streets.

a guy i know (who is from ukraine but lives abroad, near me) started to do relief work but not the virtue signaling kind, he collects material donations and drives them all the way to the poland/ukraine border where ukrainians take it and distribute the stuff among displaced and fleeing ukrainians. i gave him some camping gear (sleeping mats and bedrolls) that i dont really need right now, i think that kind of equipment is what most people gave him, two days later he sent pics of his truck full of crates and boxes being unloaded by ukr soldiers at the border

also i heard some of the ukr refugees are beginning to make it as far west as germany but most are still in poland and hungary, and it's probably gonna remain that way for a while
