JK Rowling is a great rags-to-riches success story for writers as well as a warning to creators to keep as tight of a grip on their creations as possible if they get to Harry Potter's level of worldwide recognition.

Imagine not being able to talk about an entire famous international multimedia franchise across your ENTIRE website because the creator, someone who isn't even involved in the active development of the game and only approves or disapproves of things done to her characters, because she had a few opinions your userbase disagrees with (opinions which are "sex is real and determined by chromosomes" and "trans women don't belong in natal womens' restrooms).

Sad excuse for a "gaming" forum. Like, what kind of childish shit did they expect WB to do? Magically (heh) cut JK Rowling off of having creative control over Harry Potter, her creation? Cancel the game because her opinions hurt their fantasy world (trooning, not harry potter)?

Yeah... Glad that NeoGaf got rid of that disgusting tumor we now call "ResetEra" in order for them to be somewhat more normal. (At least, from what I've seen. Opening themselves up to free e-mails are definitely a sign of that)

Wow, imagine being so wrapped up in your own rhetoric you can't even manage to enjoy a video game about magic and wizards. My dad always said to be careful about getting too into video games because, one day, I could wake up and be 40 years old without a single accomplishment, skill, or talent to my name, but I think social media ended up being a bigger danger then video games in that regard.

I mean, these people make the typical Reddit moderator look laid-back and fun loving.

Even they've managed at times to zero in on the fact that Grand Theft Auto has been just as (if not way more) transphobic than Cyberpunk or Harry Potter. But no ban on Take2 discussion, no ban on GTA discussion. It's also strange that they seem to have decided that CDPR itself is a transphobic company, but Witcher discussion is far less restricted than Cyberpunk discussion.

The reason they latched onto the CDPR shit with Cyberpunk is because it affected twitter and their social media experience. The social media arm of CPDR retweeted an actual woman cosplaying as the tranny advertisement from the game (which they supposedly hate) and made a gender joke one time. If there is a new Witcher game I'm sure they will pretend to boycott it as well, I would love for a tranny to barge into any topics about the Witcher TV show and demand they shut down discussion but I'm sure they would just handwave it as having nothing to do with CDPR.

They hated CDPR before too, for being "pro-Gamergate" because it once tweeted a screenshot from Postal 2 and also did a "did you assume our gender" tweet and some other joke tweet, there also was a lot of angst against The Witcher 3 being received well I assume because it was not a Sony/Nintendo exclusive.

The entire "transphobic" narrative was pushed by a select few troons like Kyuuji and everyone just hopped on board and does what they say rather than evaluating whether the claims have any merit. The whole claim made no sense considering their constant demands for representation, CDPR was depicting trans people in their world rather than ignoring them. It's just leveraging their identity to get everyone to hate someone they hate. Same thing they're doing with Rowling where people just make up stuff and everyone starts repeating it. Then you get to the situation where these morons declare CDPR's "transphobia" to be an ACTIVE THREAT:

That's something that pops up now and again, people on the Farms thinking JK Rowling being Queen TERF is because she's needs the attention. Besides having so much fuck-you money that she gave fuck-you money to charities and still has fuck-you money spare, she's closely involved in the five Fantastic Beasts films, including screenwriting (which isn't her forte) - and she defended Johnny Depp at that time. She's written five of her pseudonymous crime novels, all bestsellers and all adapted for TV. She had a children's book out I think two or three years back, partly notable because the TRAs replied with their standard rape and death threats and suicide baiting even to tweets she directly made to children showing her their fan-art and the like. And the Cursed Child fanfic play is still on in many parts of the world.

She's not overseeing the production of this game, no. But she's definitely the final word on any creative decisions, so if she catches wind of something in there she doesn't like, it's gone. She doesn't need attention or money, she's just saying whatever she wants because she has thoughts and opinions. It's not her fault that saying 'biological sex is real' has been declared so transphobic that it kills children. Or, for that matter, that her being transphobic is considered such a given in places like ResetEra that asking why is likely grounds for a banning for 'concern trolling, not acting in good faith', etc.

Of course, ResetEra embraced this narrative wholeheartedly, because if you took out the hating something for spurious reasons and trying to control how everyone else feels about things, the content on the forum would go down 90%. But it was certainly indicative when Cyberpunk came out, when all the troons REEEEEEEEing meant that no one could talk about playing the game except the troons themselves, who all magically had a copy and were playing through it. It was as pithy an example of the moral bankruptcy of SJW hateathons and troons in particular as I think I've seen.

Wasn`t the problem also that the Person who created the original, resetera considers to be a sacred thing "THE OP", turned out to be a guy who said that he voted for trump?
Thus causing the trans community to go into berserk mode threating to tear resetera apart.

To appease the horrible transgressions that they actually a allowed a Trump supporter to make an OP, they took it all out against Cyberpunk with the new strict rules about it.
Or was all of this nonsense happening before that?

Oh yeah, the whole thing was overreaction by the jannies after one of the troons "exposed" their PMs where they said they wouldn't ban the game just because the troons were upset. The guy wasn't even a Trump supporter, just made a joke on Twitter. But they went on for pages about how the jannies were letting a literal open Nazi make an OT for a violently transphobic game and how if the jannies did nothing they would all leave the forum! Rather than tell them to shut up and stop being stupid the jannies gave in and banned the game except for negative threads.

Meanwhile, Activision gets accused of causing suicides due to bad management and sexual harassment and the jannies say "this happens at every game developer, so we can't do a ban for them, our hands are tied." Then later they said they aren't banning any more things so stop asking for it. But they wrote in a loophole that they'll ban things accused of transphobia.

Watching the State of Play, there's more brown people and probably faggots in the game than Reeeee could ever hope for. Lovely irony.

The game looks pretty fun, going on my wishlist.
