I cannot speak for the US, it's just a thing I noticed from color revolutions in the post-Soviet states. Most of the states have had inept governance but some have exceeded what we call "common sense" here. And when they do, it's a perfect ground for glowniggers.

This is true. It's one of the reasons why I think your nations really need to get together and form their own unions and then treat both east and west as potential threats and rivals. I have a family member in Odessa, doing trench duties as a Territorial. If Russians do try anything, it's not going to be easy for them to say the least. It's up to the wazoo in defences at this point (after all, the threat of Russian landing is what is tying a big chunk of Ukrainian military in the south).
