I still say Putin has been pulling punches. He underestimated Ukraine and thought it could be taken with the scrubs.

He has been really gentle with it. I think his intention was to do the rational thing and partition the country leaving leaving Kiev in the West to themselves but forcing them to restart the water supplies to Crimea and swear neutrality.
But, he got WEFed. Zelenaky is willing to irrationally sacrifice everything.
At this point Vlad should flatten Kiev before they get all the new toys, especially anti aircraft and jets from the west knowing that leaving anything in the west means it'll become a heavily armed hostile state.
If he's gonna get charged with "war crimes" for Azov blowing up their own civilians he might as well do the war crimes and wrap this up.

But Mearshimer believes that no matter what, that power is the only shit that matters, especially since every nation always sees itself as insecure. Power is still king in IR, but how and why that power is used is based on the nature of the country and what its morals real and most importantly, perceived are.

Then there are other questions such as how much is a nation willing to follow the rules of the road, how far are they willing to bend those rules, and do they have enough allies to back their play? That's more than a strict power formulation.

But arguing IR schools of thought is as pointless as arguing philosophy. They're the same as the assholes working at Starbucks with the single most useless degree of all time, except IR theories only get tested when a fuckton of people end up dead.

How old is this war? Not even a month old. it's too early to make predictions for either side. Ukraine doesn't have trained personnel to work the weaponry and materiel they want, Russia has stalled, for whatever reason. The real issue here is the US and China using Ukraine as a proxy war. I think not just you but most people miss the forest for the trees. Actors other than the initial belligerents have the very real potential to turn this into a real shit show and cause WW3. That's what really irritates me about the "We stand with Ukraine" spreging.

A month is pretty important timewise. In the first month of every German assault in WW2 they had captured or nearly captured all their objectives. The times where it didn't, in Russia and North Africa, was the moments where the German offensive got bogged down and repulsed.
Russia can still turn things around, but the Russians can't afford for this to turn into a year long quagmire

Many citizens need to realize that the one of the best defenses towards erosion of rights is "eternal vigilance" and not treat it like a meme or talking point, it doesn't guarantee the best pussy like Beto was scoring while running on the whole gun grabbing platform but its a long term success over people like Beto and his handlers and funders.

Not sure on the hospital story, but there was a theatre building that got blown up and initially the Russkies claimed they'd destroyed an Azov base. Then the Ukries said that AKSHUALLY it was being used as a civilian shelter. Then the Russkies claimed that AKSHUALLY the Ukries blew up the building themselves as a false flag. Then it turned out that AKSHUALLY the civvies were in a bomb shelter in the basement and (almost?) all of them survived. No word on the presence of any Azov/Ukrainian troops in the building.

Tl;dr: drama theatre becomes the setting of a show with more plot twists than the best playwright could come up with.

Russia is a big nation with a big army and nuclear weapons. A war with them can be sold as national emergency whereas a war with a sandpit shithole cannot. A national emergency will allow for general mobilisation, appropriation of vital industries and a 'temporary' clampdown on internal dissidents. Every time America has gone to war, as in a real war not the carpet bombing of civilians in third world nations they've been doing since WW2, they've suspended civil liberties and moved to a war time socialist economic model, this time will be no different. The chances of war is 100% driven by internal factors, particularly economic. The more the US economy deteriorates the more likely they are to kick off shit, something to bear in mind.

I wouldn't put it past the globohomo to think something this retarded but nuclear war will absolutely destroy the globohomo and has a good chance of wiping out nearly all life on earth (e.g. Nuclear Winter). I've pointed this out previously but Nuclear HEMP strikes will kill the Internet, the New York Stock Exchange, and wipe out everyone's bank accounts/loans. This isn't a major consideration in our Mutually Assured Destruction combat doctrine because that doctrine was developed in the 1970s. Now everything is digitized and needs to remain digitized to maintain the globohomo ideal dystopia (e.g. you'll own nothing and be happy).

I was interested in looking for the official Ukraine ministry of defense website and so far found this but not sure if its their official one. There is no like tickmark, like the Russian MOD has.
