Yes. They can just turn off the power and water to the cities they're encircling. Defenders can hold out for a while, but not indefinitely. And they don't have the materiel to mount a successful counterattack.

Imma guess on the basis of ignorant assumptions this war has maybe 2 weeks left in it. It's already a disaster for Russia and Ukraine, getting worse by the day, and at this point there's no "winning" for either side, just a choice of which kind of losing they can live with.

Already starting to see people whining about how nobody cares about the Russia-Ukraine conflict anymore. I'm watching people slowly remove their blue and yellow stripes from their pictures and have noticed a load of people who were super interested in the news are just... tuning out completely.

The public has a 2-3 week attention span and it's about to completely expire barring Russia committing a literal holocaust or a nuclear reactor getting blasted. It'll pick up towards the 'end' of the war but it's looking right now like people are either burnt out from the sheer barrage of information and bad news or pulling their support because their 'side' is losing.

Honestly, I'm relieved that regular people are losing interest. All those redditors and virtue signaling politicians and corpos did was pour gas on a fire. Without PR, Ukraine's morale will collapse and Zelensky might consider surrender to regroup what's left of his forces in Western Ukraine. For the West, it's fine for white niggers to kill each other; Russia's strategic position weakens. For Ukraine (and Reddit battalions), there IS no long term. Attrition is the worst for them.

I disagree, I live near Philadelphia and I can see that the US government is losing control over vast swaths of the immediate region. Anything that goes on in the badlands is effectively invisible to Federal authorities unless it blows up or kills someone. This is just one city in the US with this level of blight and loss of control, I'm sure I could go to LA, Chicago, St Louis, Detriot, any major city. The south Bronx was infamous for its total lawlessness in the 70s and 80s and when a region gets that way for a long period of time they do not take kindly to some asshole in a suit trying to brute force them into doing what they do not like. If this stagflation, insane food and gas prices continue upward while paired with the crime wave you're going to see people just start gunning down cops and Feds because they're just in the way and provide absolutely zero protections or benefits to the average person. That the US managed to dig itself out of the 70-80s crime and economic malaise is probably one of the most poorly understood events in US history, most young people don't realize how fucking shit the country was for a long period of time.

I think Putin managed to time his invasion of Ukraine quite well, the US is in rapid decay and I think would almost certainly have been more capable of dealing with the invasion between 2015-2019. Everywhere I go I just feel a sense of apprehension from people around me, everyone gives off the feeling that they're just going through the motions and is just putting on a brave face for each other, totally accepting the fact that shit is bad and is almost certainly going to get worse.

I think people act like Russia should've occupied the country in a week and if they didn't that means they're collapsing. Again, Desert Storm - a war against a nation weaker and (I think) smaller than 2022 Ukraine - took nearly two months to be over, and that was with nearly full military force from nearly every NATO power all at once, and it had several military operations for several months before it as prep.

Operation Desert Storm was also planned to minimize casualties to an absurd degree, ending with only about 200 coalition troops killed. I doubt Russia is taking its time to minimize losses
