If they try and open up a second front, knowing how competent the Belarus military is, it's a 50/50 chance they'll accidently invade Poland instead of Ukraine.

You don't need to be a first class army to take ground if you're not facing any organized resistance.

So if nothing else, simply pushing the Belarus army along the polish border until they get stuck would divert resources from the troops already defending against the Russian army. Seems like a low-risk high-reward move to me.

At a random guess, rear area security and logistical support. From what I've read, it sounds like one of the problems behind Russia's logistics issues has been securing their supply lines. They seem to somewhat have a handle on it now, but I suspect that required diverting a lot of troops from offensive pushes. Since Putin can't send in conscripts without risking repercussions at home, bringing in Belarus troops would help fill the manpower gap. Even if all they're doing is driving supply trucks and keeping an eye on captured towns and villages to make sure no raids on convoys are operating out of there, it'd free up helpful amounts of men while performing a useful job. If they have any properly trained and equipped troops, they can be used in some actual fighting.

They expected a wave of cheap labour and tax cattle and to replicate what they had with the so-called "Gastarbeiter" in Germany or (more or less) the US with the dregs of Latin America, but got no-go zones, cultural enrichment gangs and trucks of peace instead. Mistakes were made.

Everyone says that tanks and APCs are obsolete but let's be honest, they're a liability if one side doesn't have aerial superiority or superior electronics.

Even if tank losses are greater in modern times, you still need them to hold ground and attack.

I would say that the U.S. has a major conventional advantage over the rest of the great powers because they have superior electronics.

But now that we are in another cold war, everyone will want to catch up to the U.S. in that department.

Looking at the Militaryland map the Ukes have a Territorial brigade and a company of Special Police in Kovel. The rear detachment of the 61st Jager near Sarny. And a National Guard facilities protection battalion about half way in between. It's not much but it is organized.
