Several T-90As have been destroyed since the start of the conflict. Apparently, most belonged to the 1st Guards Tank Army which is supposed to be a first-rate formation in the Russian Army, encompassing several "elite" divisions.

It's Russian/Soviet doctrine to keep the most advanced equipment in reserve to defend against the most likely NATO invasion routes. That's why there were no T-72s in Afghanistan.
The appearance of many T-90s would be a sign that the war is going fairly badly and Putin has to commit more than he wanted. Like a hockey team pulling the goalie in the last minutes of the game.

they didn't because they, like all other soviet subjects, were under the boot of stalinism, which was extraordinarily effective at suppressing any potential dissent. that was, after all, the main reason for all the purges and oppression in the first place. same reason why the ukrainians and baltics didn't revolt before the germans arrived either: because against a totalitarian state, revolt simply is not possible. only after the germans removed the soviets from the area was it even possible for anyone in these places to take any serious steps towards fighting the reds.

It was absolutely necessary for the West to make an evil country (the Soviet Union) out to be the literal spawn of hell itself in the early phase of the Cold War to minimize the cognitive dissonance after we spent 5 years praising them and funding them as an ally against Germany and Japan. It's no different than the Black Legend aimed at the Spanish in the 16th-17th centuries which exaggerated the evils committed by Spain, their Inquisition, etc., only some of which were true.

All of this is documented. Where are the missing Ukrainians? Why did Ukrainians like Kulik and Timoshenko fill the highest ranks of the Red Army in the 30s and 40s? Why did a Ukrainian like Khrushchev come to power after Stalin? Ergo, it was not a "genocide" against Ukrainians, but merely Ukraine receiving the same treatment the rest of the USSR did.
