General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Is the EN Curse™ now appearing regardless of affiliation? Who will it strike next?

Selen has committed to doing a Solo Master run in APEX. She's currently Diamond 3 but had to stop because her internet was visibly poor.

She and Astel are the only two people who make Solo to Master streams entertaining to watch for me. Selen moreso because she doesn't live and breathe the game (anymore) even when she does a challenge.

I guess "Welcome to the NHK" must be obscure in Japan. Of all the JP reactions to Amelia's performance I've seen, only Flare recognized it. The others are all "Puru puru... what?"

Don't forget about Marine having to look it up too

Hearing the words "The Celine Dion of Hololive" will never not be funny
How so? I guess that's what first pops up when japanese think of an english speaking woman with a good voice.

To be fair the show is almost 16 years old. If these girls are in their early and mid 20's not many of them would have heard about it. Only the older ones and weebs.

I need to level up my Thumbnail game.

I remember growing up it was pretty cool to hate on anime and anything Japanese in the early 2000s.

Ever since around 2010, anime has kind of become a little mainstream or at least certain aspects of it.

I think part of the reason why it seems such a resurgence is because of how some thought it was somewhat Progressive compared to whatever the West was doing ATM.

V-tubers those seem to have gained some detractors just from the sheer overexposure they've had in the past couple of years.
Honestly, anime isn't really "mainstream". It's more so "Popular normie slice of life or shounen" is mainstream. But anything that can be considered niche is treated with disdain, disgust, etc. Hell, even the popular flavor of the month isn't free from it. Look at how many people are complaining about the fanservice in my dressup darling or the the fact that the main girl got a tan for a cosplay. Even stuff like dragon maid gets complains from normies who "want to love it" but are offput by the fanservice. You also still got normies who complain about how gross and problematic anime/manga are because they don't suit western sensitibilities or rather-- these people cannot separate fiction from reality and think animanga is made by horny men for horny men even though something like 70% of mangaka are women iirc.

the reason vtubing is getting shat on is that it is viewed as "easy" by usually braindead normie streamers. People like Quinn have shitty takes on "fucking vtubers" because it is outside of their niche and they're more or less afraid of losing their audience to vtubing because you can throw on an avatar instead of having do your hair, makeup and look halfway decent or presentable. Quinn's 30 second rant about vtubers can really apply to any male or female normie streamer.

"Look at them in their cleavage" - e thots
"And form parasocial relationships with desperate weebs who can't get a girlfriend" - change weeb out for normie dude and you basically have your average twitch e-thot
"They talk in this stupid fake fucking voice" - once again e-thots
"they're just cheating" a man coping, malding, seething over the fact that his "career" is being endangered by anime cat girls

Same for Destiny when he calls vtubing pathetic because you're fantasizing about a fake woman. Guy says that like he doesn't have one of the most depression streams ever. They see a thousand-year-old loli avatar getting more views, super chats and subs than they get and it pisses them off so they criticize it and put it "beneath" them. Not unlike how normie anime fans treat any anime that isn't the flavor of the month.

For a lot of normie streamers, they're afraid that they're going to actually have to be entertaining and not just shitbags who react to things so they attack anything that could "compete" with them. Many v-tubers have an actual talent for something or are genuinely entertaining people. It's why they have to go for the "they're probably just an obese guy with a voice changer har har!!!" as if it is an own and 90% vtuber fans are watching an anime avatar for the fuckability of the person behind it like an Armourath stream. Because to them, why would you watch someone who is unattractive stream?'

Hell, Quinn is the guy who boosted in ffxiv and then complained when he got utterly destroyed and shat on by mechanics because he didn't... -gasp- learn the game and just boosted to endgame and 70 for different classes. That sums up a majority of people shitting on v-tubers, normies who get involved in shit they don't understand, don't know about or view as some sort of threat.
She could've continued pretending to be the beacon of positivity she seemed like she was as a vtuber.
Honestly, she could have if she just didn't post that message. It has been callout week for en vtubers and the difference between her and Saruei is that Saruei is known for being curt and blunt. Saruei worst offense was just being rude and insensitive to someone and mishandling a contest. Bunny's worst offense borders on abuse, manipulation and gaslighting. She tried to lie her way out of it, only to get proven wrong and everyone who she wronged basically came for her throat.

Alternatively, if she didn't try to isolate that Meowri and other girl from the v-tubing community along with her hound Bahroo it probably wouldn't have happened either. Bunny was a fundamentally worse person than Saruei and hid it under this veil of positivity and support while Saruei is always known for being blunt.

Sorry If I am late asking this question but were the concerts were pre recorded?
Assembled almost live from mostly pre-made parts, probably. You can deduce what was definitely "prepared earlier" from logistics, quality, uncanny moments, visible seams, etc. But they may have done almost all of it beforehand, just to make sure things worked out, or maybe it was more "live" than it seemed, because things worked out.

The one thing I wouldn't bet either way on is the band. I've played fake shows myself, and this was like one—but maybe just like. They may have pre-recorded their parts and been "hidden" at the show only for theatrical effect; cymbals swinging around fool almost anyone. They may have played almost nothing, ever. Some sing definitely sounded too much like the familiar versions, especially some of their almost irreproducible production quirks. They were playing along with some pre-recorded stuff, at least, and they sounded extremely "fake," but fake is a sound a good band can successfully fake, and the names I recognize are very good.
