RWBY - The Hindenburg on which Rooster Teeth rests its hopes, dreams and future

You are right about the maidens, Monty came up with them during the pre production of volume 3. He often came up with ideas and implemented them with M&Ks' knowledge as he was often doing so late at night, where the only person who was with him would've been his biggest bitch Shane who enabled his awful work ethic, which lead to him not having anyone who'd push back against any of his ideas and leaving everyone to pick up the pieces in trying to fit it into what they already had.

It really shouldn't be understated how much of a shitshow the production of RWBY was since the beginning. Volume 1's many part 2s came from the episodes being unfinished regularly, volume 2 needed the "world of remnant" to buy time to finish episodes and volume 3 showed just how little forethought had actually been put in. Hell, it was the first volume to undergo any form of preproduction. They were winging it the whole time.
And they aren’t winging it now?

Also, I just find it funny how the idea is that Miles and Kerry were just there to keep Monty from going off the deep end, even if that was really the case. Maybe they should have just done Dead Fantasy: The Series. Would probably spare us a lot of issues later.

More they're winging it in ways that are far more boring and prone to give less entertaining results than the old style of winging it.

So I guess this thread has come back around to pointing out the obvious with Monty not being a good show runner. Hopefully we will get to Ironwood did nothing wrong posting in this threads cycle soon.

We'll get new things to talk about if V9 comes out. Until then it's laughing at the FNDM/Showrunners and they've been in the same cycle for about three volumes now.

Speaking of Raymond and his autism, anyone going to talk about his livestreams and ""analysis"" of Arcane and how much he misses the point and themes of the story and characters? IK it's not RWBY related but they somehow put a brand new perspective on how much of a hack and retard he is for me.

Me personally? Probably not, I don't see the appeal of Arcane and I don't like Raymond's streams since nothing is ever fucking balanced.

Personally, I don't have much faith and I'm more interested in seeing how they'll inevitably fuck it up.

And for the love of God, they'd be better off with a "spokesperson" who doesn't have such an ear AIDS inducing accent.
Arcane is just a way to explain the lore of League of Legends.
At least the part around the conflict between Piltover and Zaun with the cornerstone being the relationship between Vi and Jinx. It's actually and unironically pretty good. Shockingly good even given the fact it's a Netflix series based on a MOBA.

You know, given how they’re drastically changing things right out the gate when it took Celtic Phoenix about 5 volumes….this is going to be fun.

I'd probably watch Arcane if just for the animation if it wasn't for the obnoxious choice of protagonists. I could not be more sick of the Jinx archetype, let alone lesbians.

I just look at these and I see a monumental waste of effort. All that work to make fanfiction of someone else's project. Just make your own shit you retards, even if it's RWBY inspired.

Apparently, it's even worse than that. From what I've seen, all they had the idea of four differently coloured girls and some ideas for their designs. He didn't even have an idea for a basic plot when it was greenlit. Even in the early production Monty's ideas were incredibly vague and unhelpful. They were given one word to describe how he "envisioned" characters and had to write around that.
I'm still aghast he made them watch anime as 'homework' for RWBY, given his choices were nearly all shit or average. This is what happens when you set out to make your own anime, not write a decent story and let it be whatever it is in the end. It will never, ever work out well.
@Mega Black you really should, Jinx isn't just a 'HAHA I'M PSYCHO' in Arcane, in fact I'd say it's the best portrayal of mental illness I've seen in recent times and the show doesn't get preachy over it either. And the lesbian thing is so subtle you could ignore it, there is no bait and the only romantic relationship in the series so far is a straight couple.

I fully understand that it makes all the wrong first impressions. League of Legends, Netflix, western animation, the designs of Vi and Jinx etc. And after the series of dumpster fires and humanitarian disasters, especially in form of Batwoman, two of the main girls (Vi and Caitlyn) being unironic lesbians was also inspired little confidence, if not outright dread. And yet they made it work. I don't want to sperg too much about Arcane, since we have a thread for that, but thinking about it does make me wonder what impact on western animation RWBY could have had if it was, in spite of its low budget, handled by competent writers.

On one hand I think it's part of the fun of RWBY, coming up with ways on how you'd improve it as the premise is interesting and the potential is there. But on the other hand I fully agree that most of these people, among them genuinely talented artists, would be far better off investing their God given autism into doing their own original work.

High recommendation. Jinx is an actual loon who has a very good portrayal of what that actually looks like in a person.

The lez shit is only really bit parts in like 4 of the back end episodes and is barely even noticeable. You can also just skip over them and miss nothing if you really don't want to see that shit, which is why its still one of my major gripes with Arcane.
