Anyone else play this? I love the custom songs. I can play shit that guitar hero never even dreamed of adding.

I've been considering getting back into the old rhythm games I used to play, but all my knowledge is so out of date. Can you buy decent third party controllers these days? Doubt I'd be able to find a new copy of Rock Band at not-extortionist prices

I got my controller at a garage sale but im sure you can find one on ebay or goodwill for under 100. Just make sure it's USB. I'm not sure wireless works unless you use some special bs program that I don't really trust.

Just looked on ebay, can confirm as low as 20 bucks

Eh, I was hoping to avoid secondhand stuff. What originally kicked off this idea was stopping by a used games store and looking at the specialty controllers. I wound up getting a barely used ps3 logitech wheel, but all the rock band instruments were fucking maimed. I made a mental note to look around and see if I could buy something new, and promptly forgot about it entirely until I saw this thread.

hahaha, holy shit, the clone hero wiki's page on compatible controllers has a section named '3rd Party/Other Controllers (Avoid)'. Welp, thrift shop controllers it is. I suppose it would be a good pretext to rebuild my soldering kit, in the worst case.

I used to play ti when I used a monitor. When it took a shit and I started using my TV everything was out of sync and I couldn't get it working right so I stopped.

IT was fun while I played it though, just like old guitar hero.

It's really fun fiding obscure shit or just songs that would never have any business being in a Guitar Hero game, but what really pisses me off is that their current builds are locked behind their Discord server, as well as custom skins for it. I swear I never had any luck finding custom skins outside of dozens of servers.

I got my version from the website, is there any new features in the "current build"?

I wouldn't know, I'm also using the same version. I'm guessing it's just bug fixes, better mod and controller support, maybe custom songs aswell. From what I've seen on youtube both versions look identical.

I've got custom songs on my build. Not built in of course

I have a grand old time playing it. I like playing both regular tracks and different meme charts.

Kinda wish they would revamp the ui or add something new. Idk what tho. Maybe more controller settings Incase you have a broken wammy or something?

I recently got into playing it. Previously I downloaded Guitar Hero Metallica for the Wii Dolphin emulator but kept getting latency issues. Then I read a comment saying "why not just play Clone Hero". It's a pretty sweet game. I like being able to play all the classic songs I remember from Guitar Hero in a single game I can add custom highways/videos to.

Kinda sucks that the original Xplorer guitar controllers are as expensive as they are.

If you're looking for a "guitar", check Facebook marketplace, local secondhand shops, and garage sales. Best place to find one.

Just started getting in to Clone Hero and have a robust (~2000) song library. I'm rusty as shit though, anyone have any recommended charts for learning how to double strum again?

Monkey Wrench. Pretty easy rhythm to double strum.

I'd be surprised if any of the original GH controllers still work considering how many hood nigga resolders mine has gone through.

I bought a decent Aerosmith Wii Les Paul on FB Marketplace, bought an adapter and havent had issues. Strum bar tended to stick a bit when strumming up, cleaned some gunk out and havent had issues since. Thanks for the song suggestion, I'll give it a shot!

Being able to alternate strumming (up, down) rather than just smashing it down with the speed of a thousand suns. It results in better accuracy for most songs and also helps not break your controller.
Didn't know there was a name for that. Yeah I was trying to the same.
