What's worse and even more embarrassing is that Monty, Miles and co. are the kind of weebs who mistook anime as a genre instead of seeing it as a medium, thus thinking that all anime is your standard shounen shit. Hence why RWBY is factually an animated shitty weeb webcomic from the 2000s.

So far I would say that they did a decent job with the sub plot between Vi and Caitlyn by writing them not as gay characters, but as gay characters. We'll have to wait eventually until season 2 for the conclusion, but I want to believe that the writers will do a better job in making Vi x Cait a thing than how CRWBY would (hypothetically) make Bumblebee canon.

And yes, Jinx was an absolute homerun.

For being a Malaysian national his accent isn't the worst I've heard, although it might be better for him to speak in his native tongue and then caption the video. I will give it to SYTO that he's a decent artist, not spectacular, but decent.

Thank you for stating this, especially as part of the OP. That's honestly the biggest mistake that any weeb makes and why weebs never make good shit.

Watched Arcane. It's good. And since Arcane is being compared to RWBY....

-The whole thing about the two cities is the V7 and V8 conflict, which is probably where the whole thing got started.
-Apparently Jayce could be the General Ironwood of this show.
-Vi is just a more reckless Yang, and has spent time in prison since people bring up her supposed crimes in the Yellow trailer.
-The scenes with Vi and Powder in the first act are better sisterly bonds than Yang and Ruby have had in the entire series.
-For all the talk of PTSD and abandonment issues regarding Yang, the whole season is a giant list of things Jinx would have to talk about in therapy.
-Silco and Jinx you could argue is Roman and Neo without the charisma or any comedy or being Team Rocket or Dr. Eggman.

And while comparing these series is basically comparing the dishes of Jiro from Jiro Dreams Of Sushi to canned sardines or the Sunkist Tuna Creations you'd find at the grocery store, I can understand why people say Arcane is, or has aspects of, a better written RWBY.

I was wondering why we all started talking about Arcane over RWBY besides it being two Western CGI shows but yeah this is it.

Arcane gets gold for the way it does family themes. Parents in Arcane in contrast to most shows are human, their own people with their own goals and flaws that organically shape the bond with their children, blood or otherwise. They get a fair amount of screen time to explore who they are besides “main character’s dad who exists to be a problem or a free hotel between journeys”. Vi and Powder actually act like sisters and the whole show nails the balance between their relationship with the other subplots. They tell an engaging story about a civil war with class struggles while implying even greater international threats without ever “””””referencing””””” real world politics or touching racism in a way that invites BLM screeching.

Meanwhile Raven was handled so badly she’s been put on a bus and written off as irredeemably evil. Yang and Ruby could be written from different families and it wouldn’t make a difference since their only hard link is Taiyou who does fucking nothing. They pozloaded my negholep by thinking Hilary would win 2016 and I’m not an American viewer who wants to see that shit in my cartoons and RWBY is a giant ball of fuck that won’t ever separate itself from current events with how hard they drove it into the ground just to look moral and “deep”.

edit: Forgot if people said it here already but it really shows that Arcane had five years of care before release - five months of storyboarding work alone for a single episode. While RT shits RWBY out almost yearly because everyone knows they would bleed their remaining viewers if the show isn’t a constant presence in their minds.

And it's SHAFT too. Half of SHAFT's catalog is "they're in highschool BUT..." and the rest of it is Madoka Magica and Fate. It'll probably look decent even if it lacks the flair of something like a Trigger show, but I'm not gonna get hype over it. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised but my money is on mediocre at best.

lots of people involved in Fate and RWBY in this, and the main point is: the studio that are going to animate this production did literally the fucking worst anime fate since 2006, that being fate extra lost encore.

Maybe I will watch it, but no hopes (I like Tow who)
 
I can't imagine a worst choice than the fucking Urobutcher writing RWBY. I love the guy but I can't see how he and RWBY meshes at all. I can't imagine how he got attached to the project either, all I can hope is the whole thing is fake and he reveals it was all a prank before introducing the Gargantia sequel or something, anything but fucking RWBY.

Fucking RWBY.
