RWBY - The Hindenburg on which Rooster Teeth rests its hopes, dreams and future

So it looked like they were going to do a bit of the first season and then maybe veer off in this weird Weiss focused snow queen adventure? I'm on board I guess, looked okay. Weiss got fucking shafted in volume 8 in terms of focus so I'm down for this to have more to do with her than the other girls.

Wait so Gen isnt writing but he's animation concept. First time ive heard that one. Does that translate to super violent fights or....
It means he probably came up with the basic background and story concept, but he's not writing the overall script or the episode scripts, but he probably has final say in what goes in them.

Seems like the alternate outfits are winter themed. So they are probably winter wear, and may mean that the characters will go to Atlas early.

Oh...they are doing a straight re-telling...this is not good.
It might be more along the lines of a reboot than a straight up retelling. And even if its a retelling, it will still probably be better than the original.

I was wondering why that was. I mean, Ren has fur in his outfit, and Ruby in an earlier shot had a snowboard.

As for focus on Weiss…does that mean even in Japan, Ruby gets the development shaft? It’s even called “The Ice Queendom”.

Ah, broken English.

Here’s the trailer again but with subtitles.
. I can see why you’re afraid. That or it could be like The Force Awakens where you tread old ground in a weird way to gain trust for holding the IP before you make your own path.
I forgot Tow Ubukata did Mardock Scramble. Been meaning to watch that.

And Ruby will still get shafted to the point where she’s merely a mascot.

Not really, Ruby never outright said to Weiss that she hated her. Also, did you not see the last 6 seconds? We may be getting an AU.
Yeah I’m thinking we’re getting a What If…?/retelling with a twist. And I wouldn’t put it past RT to start doing what Marvel is and introduce an assload of confusing multiverse bullshit.

Though a lot of people going, “See! RWBY’s popular enough to get an anime!” really don’t understand how Japanese media works. Most anime are already adaptations of existing material, and anime adaptations are often always to boost a series’ popularity for one of three reasons.
  1. The series in already popular and think an anime will boost that popularity (Attack on Titan, DragonBall, etc).
  2. The series is new and are using an anime to quickly get a following.
  3. The series is on the verge of being cancelled and the anime is a last-ditch attempt to boost popularity.

So just because RWBY’s getting an anime doesn’t inherently mean the show’s just popular and nobody’s noticed. A lot of Japanese RWBY fans still jumped ship at around the Mistral Arc. So the marketing is probably putting a lot of focus on the Beacon era for a reason.

If we wanted answers on whether this is a last-ditch attempt to keep RWBY relevant, we’d need to look into who’s funding this. If it’s a third party using the RWBY IP, then it’s still up in the air. But if this is being funded by RT themselves (or whoever owns it right now), then the chances of it being an attempt to garner an audience jumps a lot higher.

And let’s also keep in mind that if this Ice Queendom thing takes off, even eclipsing the OG show, then RT could always just speedrun a quick ending for the show to put more focus on the anime.

EDIT: @Xenomorphs Are Cute corrected me about Ex-Arms’ cancellation.

So if the adaptation doesn't bring in new fans, or even worse, drives existing fans away, the source material could get shut down before it even has the chance to end properly. Remember Ex-Arm and its awful adaptation? It was so bad that it got the manga cancelled along with the anime.

I hope so too, I wish the anime just destroy the main show timeline if possible through some bullshittery.

Also, one correction, the EX-ARM manga was completed 2-4 years before the anime came, even some spin-offs came & ended. However, the unofficial translation of the manga was on a hiatus for 8 months, until last week. Tho nobody knows if the translations would continue to be as quick as they were 8 months ago (we used to get 2-3 chapters per week), or why the 8 months were taken.

Most anime studios that try to go dark do it so poorly though. Just being dark on it's own isn't daring or weighty, it's just dark. How you handle that material is what matters and the majority of the Japanese studios just don't so well with it since it always just becomes melodrama.
Really you only have three or four options if you're an anime studio these days I noticed - Isekai, high school comedy, grimdark or subcontract work for another studio. Not really many other options as far as opportunities go.

It looked like garbage and V8 had already soured almost everyone on the show to begin with. I'll repost it for you but it was posted in the thread, of course it's probably like 100 pages back at this point, peruse through the posts from June and July of last year and you'll probably find it.
Huh. Part of me wants to think that COVID played a part with this, given the nonsense that happened during V8's production. But at that same token, the previous volumes seemed to show that Rooster Teeth can't really do CGI without it looking bad at all. Even when they farm it out like they did with Transformers it doesn't look good. No idea if it's a matter of budget, management or simply a lack of talent that know what makes for appealing CGI.

So Arryn’s pointing out that one of the writers for the anime apparently abused his wife.

And we all know RoosterTeeth’s never had any problems with sexual harrassers and abusers whatsoever!
He supposedly hit his wife once.

And it was seven years ago.

And the wife dropped the accusation.

Meanwhile a Rooster Teeth VP, Mike Quinn, beats his wife, points a gun to her head and says "If i’m going to kill you i’m going to use my hands." and I don't remember Arryn saying shit about that.
Be willing to bet she hasn't said anything about Daman Mills either and she' has more of a connection with him than this other guy she's whining about now.

Another advantage that anime provides is to keep up interest in the manga volumes and bringing in waves of new readers every time a new season gets announced.

I don’t think this will help out the original show, though. There’s a difference between going from an anime to a manga, which follows the same story almost 1:1 for modern adaptations, and going from an anime to a shitty web series that does everything the anime does, but worse.

To say even more on this, His wife retracted the statements, unlike her own nonce co-worker in VA cartel who recently C&D'd some boy who he used to diddle.

She dropped the charges around 9 days later, but he would've probably been fine without it anyway due to lack of evidence & now they agree to the divorce & agree to never speak of this again. There was no evidence of hitting her apparently. Japanese Police can drag you down harshly to the ground then it comes the justice system. If he was guilty, he wouldn’t be working in in the industry.

What's even worse is that Tow Ubukata himself talked about this in her tweet's comments.

Arryn literally used the ex-wife:s apparent trauma for clout. To make it worse, somehow her supposed "apology" in the name of a "thanks for the support" tweet is even more narcissistic.

She somehow made this about herself, & IIRC, it's not even the first time either, there was something about a murdered girl too.

Hell, even one of the biggest RT shills admit that this was unprofessional.

Because Blake Belladona is all Arryn has lmao. Looking at her imdb, she's had like 2 other longish roles (in The Detective is Already dead and Dolls Frontline) so of course she's gonna shill RWBY til the day she gets replaced. This is the only role of note she's ever had. Even sadder, she most likely got it because she was sucking miles off.

I honestly can't wait for the day RT goes under so this fucking show can get nuked finally and some enterprising retards can reboot it into something mildly entertaining.
