True. but RWBY is an existing material too. you need to look at this from the perspective of the companies hiring the anime studio: kadokawa, sony, etc get together and hire an anime studio in order to promote the source material and fund an anime adaptation. So in this case rooster teeth has probably done the same but together with other japanese companies, like music labels, etc.
The OG series had a bit of that with Blake being afraid of Ruby's and Yang's dog and getting distracted by a laser pointer.
SYTO, from what I've heard, doesn't really do anything and is one of those "has an epic fantasy novel with 180,000 words but won't let you see it" types who'll go months without producing any work and is a bit of a pretentious edgelord.
You're pretty late on that one, he and his work ethic has been talked about 30ish pages back, however at this point, what you said about him pretty much sums up all of the faggots in the RWBY rewrite game right now. Not to mention the uncanny pattern on how they all start in their rewriting gig; RWBYfag gets tired of malding over RWBY, RWBYfag starts his own RWBY, RWBYfag shits the bed hard and creates a shittier version of RWBY, rinse and repeat. It's like RWBY's decline itself was the powder keg to a chain reaction of pure autism.
I've always felt like if they wanted to justify the humans treating faunus like animals thing they should have made most of the faunus really inhuman. Not quite furries, sure, but play it up a bit more. You easily could have made Blake a halfbreed to justify her being mostly cute girl and less cat.
If there was one thing you could give the first three volumes it's that the characters are much more endearing, even if only because they have kind of wacky personality traits and moments like this. It makes me wonder where that shit all went.
Personally I think the biggest mistake they made was not making the faunus look more inhuman but also not delving into cultural differences between the faunus and humans, sure having the faunus act just like humans may be good for an anti-racism moral but it really makes the racism seem shallow and unconvincing in the first place. Racism (technically speciesism in this case actually but whatever) doesn't necessarily start with differences in appearance and even if it does start there it doesn't end there. True racism is mostly maintained by cultural and behavioral differences which are attributed to genetic predisposition by the racist, so on the one hand having them act slightly more animalistic might be a good thing I just don't think that the studio would pull it off in a way that I liked.
The writers only know wangst now.

I'm kinda hoping they do go all in on making faunus minorities, but onle within the world of the narrative. If they try to go the allegory route and just point and go "These fantasy beings are actually niggers! Hating them is wrong! Aren't we so clever for making you realize that hating niggers is bad with our cartoon?" I'll throw up in my lap.
I hope they don't do that because it would be absolutely retarded, and I still think that Weiss's greatcoat over a pencil skirt look just makes her look like a discount Kriegsmarine Azure Lane girl. Weiss was the only interesting character of the main four in the OG show, she had plenty going on. Blake going rogue would also be retarded and would require some serious motivation to actually pull off, but since this is an anime it'll probably be something retarded like "You betrayed ME first!" or "I was never really on your side!" shit.
Honestly, the only thing about Weiss you gotta worry about imo is the Schnee family turning into a Game of Thrones fanfiction.
