I've been paying attention to u/Fig-Gold for a few weeks.

Idrk about the feasibility /medical aspect of the truth of that statement;

But, I thought they really weren’t allowed to do that kinda thing anyway, from the standpoint of ‘designer babies’ / design your own lil Tony Hawks custom career mode skater with hair colour and stuff, because, it’s a slippery slope and just erm... ‘kinda Yikesy’, to phrase it in the parlance of the culture under discussion.

Testosterone doesn't make their bones more like a man's, cessation of testosterone leads to loss of those steroid muscles, and fat distribution returns to fenale-patterned as estrogen levels readjust. HRT does permanent damage but nobody gets a new "frame."

Bad choice of words. I don’t mean skeletal structure as a whole, although some areas are affected (jaw I think?) I mean the ‘look’ of the person. The effects of too much Testosterone in women are not always reversible. You can get a bulky muscular look and thicker waist that doesn’t always resolve. Hairline changes, fat deposition changes aren’t always reversible. They just look more virilised and it’s not always possible to reverse those changes.

Random fat can fall EXTREMELY far- there was this poor old bugger on a programme called Embarrassing Bodies, who had put on a ton of weight on a medical steroid prescription, broke his leg/hurt is back/ something that kept him off his feet for an extended period of time-
He lost all his stomach muscles and by the time he could walk again, his belly fat dropped like an apron to the floor- the end of it then started rotting.

The poor sod had it removed - all the fat cut away basically, he had his life back for about two weeks then died of infection / shock at the surgery on an already under- strain body.

The voice won't go back, and although there's a surgery, it's not 100% effective, not to mention the risk of permanent damage to the voice chords:

Correct! To add a little more, there are cells in the larynx (fibroblasts, I think?) that respond to testosterone. When males are exposed to increased testosterone during puberty, their voices permanently deepen. Men's voices don't get higher when they get old and their testosterone production goes down. Quite the opposite: old men typically have deeper voices than young men.

That said, it depends on the amount of testosterone-responsive cells you have in your larynx. Even when exposed to the same levels of testosterone, some guys end up tenors, while others drop to bass. It doesn't have to do so much with the level of testosterone. The 8-time Mr. Olympia winner Ronnie Coleman was a massive bodybuilder who probably injected more testosterone than 99% of people in history, but he was well known for his high-pitched voice and "light weight baby!" catchphrase.

Women who inject test are just having male puberty synthetically occur in their bodies. Just like some men's voices drop more than others, some women will have a massively deepened voice while others will get off with less.

Because it's not cosmetic, people don't think about it as much, but it's a pretty massive change. Most FtM who detrans will probably be interpreted as MtF because that's what most people think when they see a feminine face with a deep voice.

poor girl- I’ve said this before but it’s SO jarring hearing a boy voice on a girl- it really overpowers all the visual senses and just makes you think= Dude.

Genuinely , they could look like Barbie but I guess audio is a more like, effecting sense than visual?
I guess with visual stuff you can always look away, but you can’t really block out sound, so it becomes more significant in the brain.. I dunno.
People have a huge range of aesthetic appearances, nuanced presentations; but with sound it can more simply be boiled down to general terms; men-low, women-high, so that impression is very deeply embedded in our conception of others

Yes, the voice changes are permanently, but the thing is - I don't think the conception that deep voice = male is embedded in our brain, but rather culturally. Back in 1800s women could easily pass as male but wearing men clothes and cutting hair short, and the voice will be overlooked. People would think instead that she might be a man with some pubertal related disorders before suspecting that this is a woman. This is because their conception of what pass as female on street was much narrower than today.

It's actually jarring first I heard, but after seeing at a lot of FtM afterwards, she came across as a woman to me now. And with an explosion in number of FtMs, they'll be much, much easy to clock in the near future. The only reason they pass better was because there were so few of FtM in the past. We'll get too many detrans women soon for her voice to be any problems. People just accepted it as a thing just like 'smoker's voice' - and probably seen more as a part of their past vice, but nonetheless female.

I kind of think that even if we as a society move away from trans menace, the use of steroids on women might be more normalised in non-gender identity usage as sports performance and cosmetic body modifications. It's not terribly healthy - no, but the flood gate was open, all we can do is we'll eventually recognise that this shit doesn't actually change anyone sex just like women wearing trousers don't change sex. And detrans will have an easier time this way.

It's the coercion of Emperor's New Clothes laws, borderline-eugenics lies told to people, and destruction of sexed spaces where it's needed that's an issue with TRA. I would care less if SRS is openly acknowledge as a form of cosmetic surgery will all its ugly downsides, and not some magical journey to become another sex.
