In all seriousness, here are the download links of said learning guides I recommended best:
Genki Book volume 1 (Workbook - Audio CD 1&2 - Audio CD 3&4 - Audio CD5&6)
Genki Book volume 2 (Workbook - Audio CD 1&2&3 - Audio CD 4&5&6 - Answer Key for Volume 1 & 2)
Tae Kim's Grammar Guide (Website version)

I also used as additional resources Kanjidamage (which was a better source material to learn kanji characters than Anki personally) and imabi (hardly suitable for beginners but it covers a lot more on grammar rules and idioms).

There are more links in the pastebin (or in this website) anyway for people with different learning processes.

Learning materials won't grant mastery of the language like that easily, to the point of playing imported videogames in a short period of time. It obviously does take a lot of patience, practice and dedication to learn and understand a foreign language. I can read moonrunes rather well but I'm still subpar when it comes to recognize words in vocal form (without the help of subs at least, which is common in modern japanese videogames but a lot less so in old PS1/Saturn titles)

Back on topic, I'm still emulating Super Robot Wars Z2 on my phone with PPSSPP (although there are some problems and crashes with certain attack animations, not an issue on PC however). I've reached chapter 39 which kicks off the plot of Armored Trooper Votoms Paisen Files. Big O is featured in the game but Roger Smith is not as relevant as he is on the first Z episode on PS2 (him and others characters in the first Z are just other-worlders who got warped in Z2's dimension by fate shenanigans)

I never paid much attention to it. It just seemed to be one of those "you did this thing 200 times so here's a bonus" sort of things

A ton of it is being filled out through natural gameplay, now I have access to what I assume is the first repeatable dungeon. Fighting a giant Roomba is an experience I tell you.

I feel slightly guilty for maxing combat speed. I love the game, but it does remind me why I lost favour with turn based combat.

I don't blame you. As much as I loved RPGs as a kid, I know I will never be able to play them ever again without a speedup button. A big reason I liked them so much was because of how vast and long they were, which is terrific when you only get a couple of games a year. But, we're adults, and that'll never be an issue ever again.

Plus, if you don't skip cutscenes, Yakuza 7 is long enough already. Scratch that, it's long enough even if you do, considering I was still at the 50 hour mark by the time I left Sotenbori on my second playthrough.

And, yeah, that underground area is repeatable. If you need to grind, go down there and hunt the Infested Vagabonds. Make sure that everyone has the Ice Bucket skill you get as a Host & Hostess to max out damage against him, and spam that as fast as you can, since he retreats quickly.

GPD Win max 2 details dropped recently. Got the old one and love it. Bought it in case my job required I begun travelling again. Plays most emulators without issue, PS2,PSP, gamecube, dreamcast, even sega Saturn. 3ds can be a bit iffy with some games though.

From the renders they've moved the awkward placement of the start and select buttons. Moved the speakers down to the bottom (your hands cover them on the old model) the vents for the fans have been moved to the back too( dont leave the old one on anything that isnt a hard surface whatever you do).

It's cool they're coming out with a new model. I would have thought that the Steam Deck had sucked all the air out of this market, but competition is definitely good. It'll be great to see where this stacks up against the Deck once benchmarks become available. I don't care about emulators but ever since the first one I've considered picking one of these up to play some of the Windows games I've been missing out on, but haven't had the spare cash to justify it.

Nobody seems to be talking about Borderlands' new thing, although given its eighty fucking quid for a spin off I'm not surprised.

Having to dig through the options to find a version that doesn't come bundled with the season pass and a ton of other crap is maddeningly shitty.

The one I have plays games with ps4 level graphics pretty well. Played fallout 4 and hitman 3 on it, need to crank the settings down but you don't really notice much if your playing it on the small screen. The 2021 version is more powerful and the max 2 will be even more powerful. They're including and option to add another SSD so a portable ps3 with all the games on it could be within the realms of possibility soon. Thats why I want one. Getting greedy with these roms. I have more than I'll ever play in my lifetime.

I think Wonderlands is supposed to eventually become it's own thing since tabletop games are now popular with the gender special crowd. The first game was just DLC to BL3 and then later released as it's stand alone expansion. Wonderlands is the first real deal game and there probably will be a sequel.

gayben specifically said in an interview back then the deck is an experiment to see if there even is a market for that form factor. everybody buying and talking about it makes companies more likely to invest in products to get a piece of that pie, but no one wants to be the pioneer and possibly lose millions. it sounds paradox but the steamdeck being successful means you'll probably see more stuff getting made (as long as suits think there's still money to be made).

learning any language means you need to hear, read (and speak) it constantly, else it becomes just a chore and scholastic distraction. that's how kids learn it while growing up after all. weebs have an advantage since they watch a lot of nip media already.

what makes japanese difficult (like any logographic language) is that on top of everything "new" you'd also need to learn hundreds if not thousands of different symbols and how they work. romanji would be one way to go at least being able to understand spoken language easier (being phonetic and all), but people would still need to learn kanji etc for complete literacy anyway. might be good enough for some tho.

Yeah language is a very much use it or lose it type of thing. Watching TV won't really be a sufficient substitute because language is something you need to be immersed in nearly every waking hour of the day. Even when you're by yourself, what language are you thinking to yourself in? It's going to be your primary language you learned growing up. You're not thinking to yourself in Japanese unless that was the first language you were taught.

However when it comes to structure it shares an awful lot of rules that English has. So at the very least you can get a better understanding of that.

Well I did spend way more time playing videogames and reading books/articles rather than converse with someone in japanese, so yeah I developed a better proficiency towards the written form rather than the vocal one.

also it's a lot less "日本語 is a bitch to learn" but more "the way people (are trying to) teach 日本語 is fucked"
Below quote is a primary example of the problem:
However when it comes to structure it shares an awful lot of rules that English has. So at the very least you can get a better understanding of that.
マリッサはコミュニティで一番頭がいいと誤解しているwww

Basic sentence structure in English consists in the specific order of [Subject]>[Verb]>[Object] whereas the fundamental in japanese is just the [Verb] (which is always placed at the end of a sentence as a result). Anything else that comes before the main verb doesn't have to be in a particular order or even be present, the language is versatile enough to allow [Object]>[Subject]>[Verb] or [Object]>[Verb] or [Subject]>[Object]>[Verb]. This is also why sentence particles (は, を, が, に, で, と, etc.) are a thing in japanese because they serve to recognize the grammatical function of a word no matter where it is placed in the sentence. Complete sentences can also be used to modify nouns like descriptive "adjectives" to create more detailed and complicated sentences.

And I'm only parroting the very basic stuff that is mentioned within the guides I've linked. This isn't dwelling into conjugation and all the special grammar expressions that don't follow the same logic pattern as English.

It's better to think Japanese as having its own whole set of grammar rules and structure rather than trying to grasp at straws for whatever few similarities it could share with other languages. It's otherwise a good way to screw yourself with bad habits of trying to fit Japanese into an English-based type of thinking, taught generally by dummy books from local libraries or optional university courses. They don't bother teaching beyond simplistic kindergarten-level stuff and are too afraid to scare away the average person with the unique obstacles of the language.

tl;dr: Moonrunes aren't easy for sure but it's often the poor habits and misconceptions throwing in more difficulty than necessary (this applies as well for kanji characters)
It does feel good to play shit in the original language though without having to deal with official localization bullshit anymore or waiting a fan-translation forever

Jeez, I haven't thought about that guy in years and years. I don't give a fuck about Smash bros but I watched some of his videos back in the day because they were pretty funny.

Not true. Over the years I have asked immigrants if they have started dreaming in Swedish and the answer to that can really rock their world. I ask about dreaming because it deals with the unconscious mind and is beyond their control. It is pretty interesting to talk about.

My experiences have been different, the bi-lingual people I know or people who went through ESL still seem to retain their first language as their primary one even though they've been speaking english for decades. Because if they get upset or mad or something, they're back to speaking non-english.

season passes are the biggest scam, ubisoft just did a season pass for watch dogs that was literally one DLC. $40 for one fucking DLC. its one thing when its saving money on an announced DLC like when it was offered for New Vegas or AC3, but season passes are now offered before the game is even fucking finished, and if it doesn't sell well enough that money goes to waste. Ubisoft has done it multiple times, empire of sin was another one and done. i would legit be surprised if the season pass actually saved anyone a fucking dime in ages. its one thing to preorder, but preorder with a season pass that is the same cost as the game itself and they could give you less than nothing.

honestly gaming has been dogshit for years. i say this all the time but AAA gaming hasn't released a single good product in a decade. its these AA or Rookie-advanced type studios like FromSoftware that are really doing good cranking out games that are fairly big but still good. which means that a lot of nintendo's current output ends up being great specifically because of their focus on these smaller studios releasing ports of the handful of shit that worked, that and weeb rpg ports.

I have not gotten a ubisoft game since Rayman legends since something like AC Valhalla runs around 120 bucks for everything and the game is filled with a shitload of padding that you could cut out and between the base game, season pass, and the expansion you could have a nice game for around 60 bucks. But they want to draw shit out to the extreme like an MMO.

Meanwhile games like Horizon Forbidden West offer a much more efficient take on the formula where there's no real padding or needing to grind.

It sounds like you know British people on Xbox Live. They were just calling you a cigarette.
