I see where you're coming from, but regardless of whether Nintendo had entered the North American video game market in 1985 or not, the video game industry would have been just fine. There was never going to be a timeline where technology advances to the stage we're at today without video games quickly experiencing some kind of revival after its brief market slump.

Atari's follow-up console, the 7800, sold reasonably well and in a timeline without the NES would have sold much better. Sega's Master System (which from a technical standpoint was a superior system to the NES, by the way) would also have still existed. There's so many different things that you have to completely ignore in order for the "video game crash of 83" fable to make any sense at all, it makes me wonder if the Nintendo fans who keep repeating it know literally fucking anything about the industry they claim to love that wasn't shout out by Iwata and Miyamoto.

What Nintendo did do was kickstart a period of very high creativity for games that would have otherwise been very muted or delayed.

Troons, faggots and corporate greed catering to the lowest common denominator. Everything they show at E3 became known for being bullshit vertical slices, the sort they would show to investors in a rendered, high spec PC, knowing damn well none of the things they showed would be able to be put in on time.

At least before the last few years, they had the semi decency to have it give off the appearance of professionalism, but now, they have dropped all of that to try and be "hip", hired all the people who they think represent gamers (Woke trans Californians who complain far more than they ever play) and made the whole thing last year look like amateur hour.

Add in an industry that has now figured out how to apply the mobile game grift onto mainstream games for the average normie, with lootboxes and card packs and pay to win, and it's no wonder the western AAA game industry is absolutely shit. Honestly think the last Western AAA game that I fully enjoyed was Ghost of Tsushima, in a rare display of none of the things that make the usual AAA experience crap. Almost everything else has been Japanese.

I wouldn't be surprised if we never see E3 again. We are past the need for it, but it kind of sucks how this event used to be something worth wild but ended up being a husk of it's former self. Hell, I argue that E3 being so shit reflects on how bad the industry has gotten. It's become co opted by business man who want to nickel and dime you. And bad actors who rather who want to use it as a platform to preach their "ideals".

Tbf that amiga cd its pretty much a joke but where amiga really shines is its computers without turning it into a single page essay i would recommend the flatline of amiga and the keygen videos by Ahoy but in short amiga contributed to gaming ALOT and some departments moreso than nintendo not to mention they were one of the few companies to actually have a decent soundchip on computers that didnt require a soundcard ( one that also was in some regards better than the snes sony soundchip would recommend turrican 2 or amiga music playlist )

the rest of the industry should have followed sony out the door in 2019. the 8th gen was a complete wash. nintendo is the only one that weathered the gen well, having gotten their dork age out of the way with the wii u fuck up. gaming basically died in 2012-2014.

That was one of the worst things that happened is when they just started flat out lying to you with trailers, like Anthem's E3 2017 trailer.

To look back over the last 14 years or so, 2009-2012 was a pretty lame time for gaming, though when it comes to the west still preferable to now, I would say things actually got interesting again from 2013-2017, but 2017 was when Fortnite came out and after that point is when the impact of Wokeness really started to be felt, in 2019 I would say the western industry entered a free fall, especially once Covid happened, the western scene is in a complete freefall now and there's no telling when it will stop.

It was The Outer Worlds in 2019, which I was pretty hyped for, that made me realize we had entered some real trouble when even Obsidian would put out something as mediocre as that.

It really wasn't though, in some ways the 8th gen was a breath of fresh air when compared to the 7th, the 8th was when Japan became good again.

But the 9th gen is a complete wash, I don't think I've played a SINGLE "current gen" only game, only cross gen games, that's pretty bad considered we're almost 2 years into the new gen, you can't even fucking find new consoles unless you pay out the ass.

Like I said the whole western industry is in free fall and probably about to crash and burn.

They already killed everything about E3 that made it unique. The "real" E3 with all the big names, everything for the video game press to see and do, the BOOTH BABES died back in 2006, before a "scaling back" around 2007.

The booth babes were one of the most iconic features and we just can't have that anymore. Even back in 2015 you had Anita Sarkeesian, who wormed herself into a prominent "voice", bitching about the AUDACITY of E3 to put a cute girl on the badges that year...and the girl in question wasn't even sexualized very much.
