I'm legit still trying to wrap my head around exactly what the hell is going on. What exactly is going on with path? Are they seriously going to bat for Corey Barnhill this hard, or is something else going on there? Why do the supposed lawyers' correspondences look fake as shit? Are the lawyers even involved, or is there fraud shenanigans afoot? Corey's been terminally online for most of his life, so surely he knows how this story ends if none of his actions end up having any weight behind them, so then why is he bothering? Are we underestimating something? Is Corey just a dumbass?
The only thing I'm sure about is that my gay(op)dar is going haywire.

Thing is, unless I am woefully off on my chronology, what set off this whole cascade was someone talking about how the CEO of Path.net was being a big prick, doxing him, and mentioning that he hired Corey. The posts removed here were specifically related to Webb and Corey, not just Corey, or at least it looked that way to me.
This could be big-dick CEO protecting himself which unintentionally protects Corey.
And all of this is assuming we aren't dealing with a massive massive gayop which involves exactly zero lawsuits and is being orchestrated by Corey without the knowledge of multiple people who are alleged to be emailing the upstream.

Here's a thought, what if Webb basically subcontracted out "dealing with this" to Corey because he trusts him for some fucking reason and is largely unaware of what's currently happening.
I think that would almost be funnier.
This could be big-dick CEO protecting himself which unintentionally protects Corey.

betting two bucks he's abusing whatever privleges that path gave him, to try and pull this kind of stunt, and then faking the whole lawyer thing.
normally corperations go through the whole take this down or we will pursue legal action notice, before taking any action.
if it is the latter path would be best to cut their losses and fire him now, as well as pressing charges for misusing systems and impersonating law enforcement witht whole warrent thing.

I dunno, I think the "former LulzSec skiddie turned federal informant" angle is the more likely one to explain his teflon glow.
That was my thought, but there's also the very plausible alternative that the path CEO really is just butthurt enough that his dox and/or Zoom-affiliation is going around that he sued that other Kiwi, tried to bribe the pastebin guy, and is now impotently (or not so impotently?) threatening Null with this drive seizure bullshit and that whatever defense of Corey is happening on their end is incidental. I'm completely lost as to what the fuck is going on and I suspect we'll need to wait until the smoke clears a bit more to be sure of anything, really.

while I am a tad suspicious of the ceo, the thing is in the industy that their working in, it wouldn't be a good move to abuse privilages that clients give you to their information, especially if your main schtick is in it an ddos protection. sure kiwfarms is hated enough some might not care, but it would be an incident that would make potential buyers, and current users think twice of buying or retaining their services with them. then again I've seen stupid shit happen in the name of wokeism so anything is possible tbh, it would be a very bad move business wise to take out a personal vendatta with out so much as going through the legal process. I have a feeling the pedo will be fired and or in jail over this, but this is still unclear.

Corporations like this usually have an attorney or law firm on retainer. They don't need to go get a lawyer because the lawyer is just paid to do legal work for them. This is the case for many companies which is why you sometimes hear about overzealous lawyers for companies filing DMCA takedown requests and the company itself going out of their way to reverse it. The lawyers will sometimes take actions on their own to make themselves look important so the company keeps paying them.
In this case it would be nothing to just fire an email to whatever law firm they have to do their bidding.
