Holy shit there we go victimising ourselves again. Hey last time there was any outsider's plan of action they ended up being scapegoats for the 1998 default. You can't expect me to be so entitled as to tell you what to do.
You do realize that centuries of living under extremely autocratic rulers will lead to a much different set of cultural values than the west right? Stop thinking like a westerner whose living in a country with at least a century of democratic tradition. The best way to put it, and I don't mean this as an insult to our Russian posters, is that the Russians may look like us, but they don't think like us.

No what happened was the Saudi tanked the oil market in 2015 which killed US oil production because it was only profitable to use domestic oil when gas is over $3.50/gal
Well no lol

Conventional oil is profitable at like 20 a barrel

Fracked oil is profitable at 40-60 depending, usually closer to 60
everyone IRL still pronounces it as 'Kiev' tho, not KYIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIV - so ukranians will just have to cope and seethe with that fact just as I must cope and seethe with this ungodly bright new layout.
Not on NPR they don't. It's Keeeeeev and Kharkeeeeeev and Lveeeeeeev and annoying as all fuck. They deliberately mispronounce even the way the Ukrainians say those words to stretch out the eeee sound it's so autistic lol

Russia started this whole shit by moving a mass of their forces over a period of 2 months - it wasn't until that happened that Zelensky made the first quip of: "well maybe we SHOULD join NATO."

Lol, ok dude :story:

What does this have to do with anything?
The context being that the Ukrainian kids are born near an active frontline, and Russian kids aren't?
My point was that the "depraved Ukrainian orc teaches children to fight with weapons while noble Russia teaches her children patriotism through military drills" logic is kind of suspect, and I was confronted with the excuse that Ukrainians will kill babushkas, Russians won't.
That right there tripped my BS sensors, because if anyone has the justification to teach children how to fight wars it's people living near active war zones.
You pointed out that Russia has conscription, to which my response was that supposedly they won't have to fight except in defensive wars so they're not born into a conflict like people in both sides of the Ukrainian conflict are.

Isn't that the guy who went for a swim in that Chernobyl lake?
Him and his friends went to some kind of radiation lab to measure their bodies for internal radiation afterwards.
Those guys are Ukrainian Jackass.

Not only in the lake, it turns out:
Ok I knew slavs tended to have death wishes, but even by those standards, that's excessive.

Our exercises might be sprinkled with some patriotic anti-western sentiment. We don't have any ideology. Sadly. Not when I had those anyway.
Theirs is with nazi ideology. With a heavy "we ain't no Russians" sentiment.
There is a difference.

2014 coup wouldn't have happened if they didn't have this radicalized spearhead. Nor would atrocities in the East of Ukraine.

Putin coopts all recognised opposition (Yabloko, its Communist party etc.) censors and tramples on the actual opposition by calling them foreign agents or saboteurs, feeds the rest of his population absurd propaganda (which sanctifies his own regime as if it's the country itself.) It's transparent as fuck. I'm sure you know it. All Russians know it. Worse yet, most are complacent with it. So what keeps Putin in power isn't his iron fist but your apathy. No healthy society would tolerate this KGB-LARPing, cab-driving, war-mongering dwarf. That's why he keeps good people down with fines, jail and extrajudicial murder before an organic opposition ever has the chance to materialise itself. And the best part? He didn't do it overnight. Russians gave him leeway for decades before he'd managed to chokehold the entire nation as he does now. Indifference made Putin. Your relatives made him. I bet you sit down with them around the table and hear them glorify the invasion of Ukraine.

All this cavalier attitude of sticking it to the man dissapears when your family is threatened with murder, torture and exile.

These have been the experiences of normal Russians for hundreds of years and you wouldn't be so courageous if you and your family are sent to slave camps in Siberia or dissapear due to the secret police.

You can't sympathise with Russians because your society has never experienced 1/10th of the pressure and extremes that Russian society has experienced.

or we could just say for the nth time how Russia deserves to crush a whole country of over 50 million and has a right to feel threatened, because some puppet former comedian and his former comedian-staffed regime decided to act as good little puppet clowns and spout verbal diahrrea ala Joe Biden 5 years before all this, sure. point is, for 2 months I remember seeing russian troop movements happening apropos of no other significant recent event that I can discern, other than perhaps the Afghanistan disaster making them feel bold enough to do so - it is fair to say that they started this conflict, even if the context for it is more complicated and involves the West prodding Ukraine towards the antagonistic attitude.

Not gonna lie, I enjoy seeing war journalists and war photographers end up dead. Maybe I'm just a psychopath here but seeing journalists visit a dangerous zone for the first time in their lives and realising that they're not safe if Russia carpet bombs the truck carrying them (and 20 soldiers) before having to run home sobbing really gives me a justice boner.

Also props to the absolute grade A retards who are literally walking up to Russian tanks and trying to take videos. Your footage will live on long after they try and find your body parts.

I can't hate on the dead war journos that much, in fact I have more respect for them than most journos, just because they were actually willing to take a risk for their story, instead of just sitting in an office or hotel room. Idk, after over a month of this war, I just can't find any joy in seeing dead bodies, regardless of whose they are.

I don't give a shit about patriotism or teaching children about weapons.
I just can't take seriously a narrative about the evils of teaching children about weapons when both sides do it.
If the conversation is about Ukraine's ethno-nationalist ideology that's a different thing altogether. Don't give me the "uhhhh it's different when we train kids with weapons". The weapon has no morality, it's a tool. So it doesn't belong in a conversation about the ideology behind the conflict.
And don't make the Chechens, who a few years ago got in hot water for having televised children's MMA fights, hold the book with the mortar drawings to make the Ukrainians look bad.

What terrifies me is that after this "fog of war" (or as I said in this thread, "mud of war") clears, the bodies may be far worse... (:_(

@Trigger Me Timbers
Here dude, I know you haven't posted about it since the day it happened, but this is where you talk about your opinions on Ukraine. You don't gotta make up a whole big project just to sell your shitty viewpoint, just come here and spew it out.
Lol wtf, well i guess this answers my question I had about what "shitty politics" did I pump into my meme-f-t project. I assumed it was the jab at LGBTQIAAP+ crowd but I guess it was the Ukraine thing?

I don't know what you think my "shitty viewpoint" is. As you seemed to have already ran a background check on me, you know I only posted about this conflict on the day it happened.

Just so people who are in the dark, @WolfeTone is upsetti-spaghetti I had this line in an Aprilfools joke.

Nullies also feel for the poor poor Ukrid refugees who are fleeing their home country like cowards to go to arguably better countries, to honor them, I will be donating some special Nullies to the Ukrid relief fund.
along with this image;

I always thought calling this place the "Autistic Thunderdome" was a meme, but if @WolfeTone can read that entire OP and the 50+ generated images I made was all to dunk on Ukraine then bruh I really am kinda speechless.

And no, you can't have a "Nullie"

I respect Russian and Ukrainian war journalists more than the rest because there's the possibility of them not being rich enough to actually leave their hometown (or in Ukrainian cases, literally unable to leave Ukraine because of the ban) so might as well document shit going on, but whenever I see some American or non-Slav 'carnage tourist' get their head blown off by a sniper I just have to laugh and laugh and laugh, those fuckers deliberately CHOSE to enter a disaster zone willingly and are reaping the consequences for doing so. Everyone wants to be the next big youtube sensation and get fame and notoriety for doing the dirty work, but they also want to have their cake and eat it too by getting deeper into areas that are completely off limits.
