It can't be understated that the current situation is because of the vest streak.
The vest streak normalized Phil asking for $100/stream. This, in conjunction with his other revenue streams, has also normalized him pulling in a relatively stable $10k monthly. Phil stated at the time that this was more than enough to live off of, and yet his income then went up because of the Twitch subs, and he now claims that is the income he needs.
The bankruptcy has also awarded him some protection from himself because he cannot have a credit card, meaning that Phil can burn a heap of money every month, but cannot dig himself into a severe hole for the future, which he would be doing if he could.
This all means that Phil is in no state of trouble, and cannot really enter one. He can cover the cost of his bills and indulge his vices without having to change or do anything. He drains his account each month and that is a clear stopping point. He only needs to beg to keep his vices topped up.

Now that he's been holding steady for a year since the Twitch loss, and has held on despite (allegedly) losing one of his mega whales, we're going to start to see Phil indulging in his other vice - scaling back his work while trying to maintain the same level of income. We're already starting with a potential three nights off to 'do taxes'.

Imagine being so greedy with the fucking time it takes to do your taxes that instead of doing them during your off hours, you instead decide to take multiple streams off - essentially substituting "work" for a different kind of work instead of putting in a little extra effort for one or two days. This guy is so fucking lazy and the fact that he has the gall to then beg for the money he CHOSE to lose from not having night streams is fucking disgusting.

Which brings me to this... also imagine being so greedy that you take all this time off to do your taxes... while paying a 'tax guy' over $1k to do your taxes. And then beg for the money you lost because you can't work and have to pay him.
With the way Phil describes it, he is paying this guy a fortune to enter numbers into TurboTax.
And meanwhile, his wife, who works part time, is not permitted to see any of this financial information it would seem.
But let's be real, at least one of those days is so that Phil can watch a very conveniently-timed WrestleMania.

It's the opposite, the more he's guaranteed to get the less he cares as he knows that he may not make as much but he can ignore anything he doesn't want to do. (guaranteed income baby!)
He has NEVER earned his money and with the amount he gets for doing fuck all he's not going to start now.

Phil needs to suffer, he needs to be scared, he needs to be horrified about having to get an actual job, right there is where he should always be as that's where he's entertaining to us, the dented ones will like it regardless, the more money he's guaranteed the less he'll be fun to watch, it'll all be "baby/clown"-mode - which will make anyone with a brain leave and the "funny superchat doods" would as well as we won't be there to see the "funny" superchat/comment. (as we'd be so bored even Snort Burnell couldn't be arsed to make a video...)

You know, you're right. But I feel like playing games can be a profession if you can hack it. But Phil has done nothing to earn this job. He scams and takes advantage of retards and kids all while doing the bare minimum. There is no justification for him to still be here.

I'd just like to give a shout out to the prestream bathroom breaks.
This is exactly how Phil instituted the prestream break to begin with. Regular bathroom breaks for about 5 minutes at the end of the prestream, just consistently, not every day. Then eventually it turned into a 15 minute break with music. Then he pretended that it was just always a necessity.
So he's bringing it back slowly. Probably so that he can go do some gacha pulls with his prestream money.

Finally i think this is him trying to test the waters to see if non-gaming content can be viable, considering hes getting older. So I wont be surprised if he starts to do more "reactions" or non-gaming stuff going forward as the years pass.
