So I saw this on reddit:

the actress that played young Guinan stated in an interview that she even asked that same question. So, since the future that they came back from was the Mirror Universe, that other Picard never traveled back in time and never met Guinan. It was as clear as mud since the actress herself didn't get it at first and a lot of people were asking about that online.

If that's true, then these writers are even more retarded than anyone could have possibly thought. Picard went back in time to before the divergence. Therefore at that point, his future self has and has not come back in time, its a superposition of his actions, which collapse when the divergence happens/doesn't happen. Except this makes no sense as the event is in the past, therefore it must have happened, and Guinan should have already known Picard.

Also, supposedly the 2024 is supposed to track Trek timeline, so that they're not in present day real Earth. 2024 Star Trek universe is on the path to World War III (it starts in 2026) and like only 30 years past the eugenics wars which killed tens of millions. So politically and socially, it's not current day Earth. If this is what the writers were thinking, then maybe some dialogue to explain to the audience this was the case would have been beneficial. It would only have taken a couple of lines before they left the ship.

"Remember, the eugenics wars occurred 30 years ago, tensions are high on Earth in the lead-up to WW3, x, and y are the things that will trigger it, we need to not alter the timeline, rather restore it so don't do anything to cause z.

I mean its not that fucking hard, yet these dipshits can't do it. I have to ask, isn't destroying the cultural legacy of a society a crime against humanity? If so, these fuckwits are clearly committing crimes against humanity. I demand they be put on trial in The Hague.

Hypothetical Star Trek Episode: That Good Night.
Synopsis; The immortal hologram is dying. The Doctors holographic matrix - never designed to go trough what it has or function for as long as it has - is breaking down and is not repairable. The Doctor must now face the most human of all experiences. His own mortality.
Seven of Nine - living with him on Vulcan and working as a teacher at the Vulcan science academy - is distraught, saddened, emotional. Her students suffer.
Trough the episode the Doctor reflects on his own life, writes letters to his old friends, and tries to prepare Seven for his coming death.
At the episodes conclusion Seven joins the main crew as a respected - if strict - scientist director.

I dunno. I barely consider most episodes of Voyager to be canon. Even Deep Space Nine was pushing it and I love that show the best.

And what was going on with the Stargate subplot in the past? I have questions.

There's that ancient joke that portions of TOS aren't canon because Kirk would make up silly stories to fuck with his superiors. The truth is though every Trek series has had its stupid or silly or just even boring episodes that people would rather forget about.
