the individual from the "american citizens services" section was where I was transferred to. Yes, they may have no clue what they were doing but she did say in that email that information for that month and year is up to date as to their reporting.Thanks for the explanation. This part conflicts with what I was told by the man who called me from the Passport Vital Records Section.
The person said that the death was considered "a bit early"--nearly six months after it had occurred, and that Japan's U.S. Embassy may not have sent certification of death over yet. Either you're not telling the truth, the person you talked to didn't know what they were talking about, or the person who called me did not know what they were talking about. Given that he was assigned to my case, I am inclined to believe he knew what he was talking about. I work for the government. I'm aware of what information can be obtained for citizens versus officials, which is why I was able to request this man's death certificate despite not being related to him. His case is not high priority. It's very slow and no one wants to dedicate resources to it when there are larger criminals still being followed.
I also agree with the statement about the people there not having a clue as well. I just went at it from a different angle so more info could be put out from a different perspective.
