makes you wonder how much creative freedom she will have. hope they dont tard wrangle her too much.Might sound like a smart ass but Mori signing up with a music label isn't surprising at all, it's the logical progression of an artist with that outreach. If it wasn't UMG it was going to be Sony or another label.
Besides, this isn't something that instantly means success. Signing up for a label is a big give and take. She has relinquished her music rights and they have a lot of power over her for a long period of time decided by that contract. She will in return get a lot of exposure and access to one of the best networks for musicians out there. It's up to her to see if she makes the best out of it. Knowing her workaholic attitude I think she will burn bright and fast, have a huge burnout and then, hopefully come back strong.
I should remind you that the music industry is a nasty place to be and they're gonna take advantage of you if you let them.
Also reminder that Calliope Mori™ is an IP that COVER owns and the contract goes through them, not Karen.
She's put on shiny golden sneakers, but they're really heavy.
For her sake, I really hope her contract is worded so only her work as Calliope Mori will fall under the label and she is free to do whatever she wants as DDK.makes you wonder how much creative freedom she will have. hope they dont tard wrangle her too much.
Oh no bros, the /mu/tards don't like her! Are they going to get Fantano to make a shitty review of her albums? :^)
The funny thing about this is that Fantano probably would unironically dig some of Karen's stuff.
I mean it's literally a Hololive and Universal Joint collaboration. Unless they say otherwise than DemonDice Karen is an independent IP.For her sake, I really hope her contract is worded so only her work as Calliope Mori will fall under the label and she is free to do whatever she wants as DDK.
They are definetly the drama heavy members of HoloEN. Ina is so chill that she deflects drama by existing, Calli gets it for being more divisive and Kiara is honestly a fucking Greek Theatre play by nature, she is made of drama but isn't an asshole to the point of deserving all the hate she gets. But precisely, it's nice to see them getting more sweet news!its nice to see the Wigger get some great Ws recently, all we need is for the chicken to get one of equal size and the doomposting duo will finally get some decent leeway
Who am i kidding, schizos and twitter tards would bitch either way, but atleast the girls are doing fine
We'll see, they could only be interested in her as Calli or they could have signed "both" of them at once. She isn't stupid enough to let these news slide at the same time, even the biggest idiot in the fandom would have connected the dots, so even if it is the case we'll only be seeing it after a while. I don't see her taking a shitty deal, however! For her sake, I really hope her contract is worded so only her work as Calliope Mori will fall under the label and she is free to do whatever she wants as DDK.
Good post and I agree with both points. I do think we'll see a second wave once the taboo of Vubing dies off, which may take a few years, but will happen. Streaming started with a boom, was taboo and slowed down, and, as it became more and more mainstream, started exploding yet again. For me, there are two questions relevant to the fad discussion:
1. Is streaming likely to decline?
2. Is streaming using a virtual avatar likely to decline?
The answer to the first question, IMO, is no. Livestreaming has been popular since it became practical for people to do. I think the appeal of it is very natural. I don't see it going away anytime soon.
The answer to the second question, IMO, is also no. It's been discussed here before but there does seem to be an advantage to streaming with a "body" instead of just being a disembodied voice, and using a virtual one instead of a webcam offers its own unique set of advantages. For the streamer, it offers greater privacy and means that they don't need to worry as much about looking good for the camera. For the audience, well, plenty of people like the anime art style, and drawn art styles in general have been popular for over a century.
As a result, if we define vtubing as streaming/making videos with a virtual avatar, I think it is here to stay.
What may change is what vtubing looks like - or the meta, so to speak. After all, the first vtubers were not streamers, primarily. From 2016-early 2018 pre-recorded videos with 3d models were dominant. The shift to streaming with 2d models occurred in 2018 thanks to people like Tsukino Mito becoming popular. Nijisanji talents are called "livers" because Nijisanji wanted to emphasize that they are live streamers.
Now, I personally don't think we'll see a shift away from streaming and back towards pre-recorded content, but that is an example of how what we associate with vtubing can change. 2017 vtubing looked very different from 2022 vtubing, in other words. I'm sure things will look different in some way or another by 2027.
The popularity of vtubing may also rise or fall. By late 2021 people were already talking about the Covid boom being over and how that would lead to a decline in vtuber popularity. To an extent, I'd agree that the 2020-21 vtuber fad did somewhat burst, but it seems as if that did not lead to a decline in popularity of vtubers, just a slowing in the growth of said popularity. Since then there have been things pointing towards growth returning.
My prediction is that vtubing will remain popular for some time.
ありがとうねねちゃん、あなたは私の最大の味方です。I'm on to you Nene:
She's been nightlighting as DD since the start of Mori, but that might come to an end now.
VTubing being cringe and niche is the only thing saving it from total annihilation.Good post and I agree with both points. We're at the popular, but still taboo phase imo. I immediately wrote off this entire thing as cringe originally until I slowly found myself pulled into the Peko-hole and saw that there was far more than just kayfabe going on. Once you can tell your friends about your favorite vtube streamer and the reaction isn't immediate cringe, the popularity will explode again.
Gura's gameplan when dealing with drama meanwhile:They are definetly the drama heavy members of HoloEN. Ina is so chill that she deflects drama by existing, Calli gets it for being more divisive and Kiara is honestly a fucking Greek Theatre play by nature, she is made of drama but isn't an asshole to the point of deserving all the hate she gets. Her streaming rate being rather low probably due to her roommate still holding on her OL job if things still hasn't improved since then.Speaking of AZKi, sounds like she probably won't stream that much more often. But it does sound like she will be playing games more often as well. Preferably coop games with other members.
Nothing major atm just same old but look at this one thing she's racist, you know tap water level's of IQ at it's best. 1-3 like alphabetti spaghetti gang.Any funny reaction tweets to Calli signing with Universal, or did they decide to seethe in peace?
I wasn't talking in terms of quality, just in terms of long-standingness. Everything goes to shit once it hits the masses. The masses are asses.VTubing being cringe and niche is the only thing saving it from total annihilation.
