Ralph isn't a father though. A woman becomes a mother when she gives birth, a man becomes a father when he raises and provides for his children. Ralph is no more a father than a sperm donor.

Many wealthy people adopt. Many celebs re-marry and their new partners take over the primary role. After war there is naturally a great loss of fathers. What would you do? Label all women with Children as undesirables? This argument sounds rather familiar.

History is littered with examples of great persons who have taken children without fathers. Ben-Hur anyone? /in reality how about Babe Ruth? Steve Jobs? All adopted. There are many others.
