This is some crazy story the guy is telling. Maybe propaganda, maybe not. Note the white bands.
Guy on the left: — My dad was a military man, a retired major. I'm his father :nods at the guy on his left:.
Son: — Third generation.
Interviewer: — What did you get medal of distinction for? (dunno what medal they are talking about).
Son: — For destruction of enemy military convoy.
Interviewer: — How did that happen?
Son: —Well, I was defending my sector. A convoy had arrived. While we were figuring out whether that was our convoy or not the time kept ticking. I was in my position some 20 meters away from them. I thought it's better to die with honour rather than as a coward. And so I decided to go and figure out who they were myself.
As it turned out later, I came up to a company commander, but there I saw a captain. I've asked him to identify their unit to which he answered: "14th Mechanized Brigade".
Before that on the road we were conducting reconnaissance and had found a shevron. I remembered that and just to be sure I've asked: "What country?"
Captain looked at me in surprise and answered: "Ukraine."
And that's where it all began.
I've opened fire. Rolled away. Shouted at the tank on our position to shoot and the rest of the platoon to ready grenades, that these aren't our guys.
Shooting started.
Convoy started backing up, but another officer at the end of the convoy prevented them from fleeing. And so the convoy got destroyed.
Interviewer: — What kind of military hardware did enemy lose there?
Son: — A tank. 3 BMPs and 1 APC.
Interviewer: — Do you wanna say hi to anyone?
Son: — My mom. Hi. We are ok. Healthy and unharmed.
Daddy: — Hey honey. Do not worry. We are ok.
Wew.
