For Hygiene, if you mean like not shaving legs or armpits? Body hair basically grown naturally by both mature sexes and a lot of lesbians don't conform to gendered expectations of their culture, which often times is shaving. @Meiwaku For game recommendations, the Elder Scrolls Online has a good number of lesbian NPCs, even some married ones, and since its Elder Scrolls you can of course play as whatever you want. Downside is you can't marry NPCs and it's an MMORPG. But you can almost play it as a solo game, lusty NPCs will flirt with your character regardless of what you are (I think Naryu is a lesbian icon by now), and the female playerbase of the game is huge because it has house decorating and dress up.

I think that a lot of Monogatari is from the standpoint of Araragi's fantasies because stories not from hus POV have boob shrinkage LOL...so I can fully believe Kanbaru being a BL loving lesbo and Araragi being too cum brained to realize it.

IIRC it was partly this, and partly that yaoi was generally "safer" for japanese women to enjoy.

Basically jap girls enjoyed their romance and saucy love stories as much as many other women did, but showing interest in M/F stories and porn made it seem like they were available and interested in that kinda thing irl, when they often weren't. So eventually many of them switched to gayer stuff (mostly shonen-ai and yaoi, as since you said, they'd also draw attention to themselves if they were into yuri and shoujo-ai, unless it's tame and clean enough).
