General GunTuber thread

One issue I see with the .30 Super Carry marketing is making the same assumption* everybody with a 9mm is using FMJ instead of some flavor of hollowpoint. While the .30 Super Carry user would be using hollowpoint instead of FMJ.
*Same shit 9mm users have done when making comparisons to 45 ACP FMJ instead of comparing 9mm hollowpoint to .45 ACP hollowpoint.

2 things I think would make .30 SC more interesting are the recoil and possibility of use with 30cal suppressors(especially for PCCs/submachineguns).

The recoil is equal to 9mm so that eliminates it as a replacement for .380 in most cases where I recommend it(women/elderly who don't deal with recoil well and don't like guns enough to train to manage it). I know that the basis for the ideas behind the cartridge are small diameter bullet go faster, but I wish they managed to lower the felt recoil somehow. If they did it would virtually kill .380 in new production guns.

Haven't checked myself but based on the info around(Paul referenced this) the diameter is slightly higher than normal 30 cal bullets so use with 30cal suppressors is iffy even though it sounds like a potentially cool high capacity subgun cartridge.

Federal kinda fucked the .30 SC with that name as it is really .32 (7.65mm) caliber not .30 (7.62mm) and Super Carry is imho kinda mall ninja tier retarded. Instead of say to more traditional and recognizable naming schemes like what Federal already uses for their own created cartridges.

That's the one situation I'd get a .30 Super Carry for. If I wanted a carry pistol as small as a .380, but with more oomph than .380 and more capacity than a 9mm of the same size. That's a very specific use case, but most people don't get to collect guns (hell, I limit myself to a very small amount) so if that sounds attractive to someone they might as well go for it.

Actually, I lie. I'd get one for plinking, because I like plinking. But I already have a 9mm pistol for that so my money will remain in my wallet.

I haven’t shot it but I have heard the felt recoil is just as bad of not worse then 9mm. On top of that the loaded length is just as long as a 9mm. Also the extreme chamber pressures (reported at 50,000 psi) requires the lockup to be beefier. Putting these things together makes it a non started for subcompact/backup guns. By making the bullet diameter larger then your standard .30 cal it limited the ability to use many common suppressors.

Overall it seems to be extreme amounts of Compromises all to try to cram something close to 9mm performance into a .32ACP size to get an extra 2 rounds in the mag.

Also Ian is just liking it cause the dimensions are similar enough and the case wall thick enough that he can use it for .30 French Long

ETA: I’m curious to see what the SAAMI specs are when they get approved. Cause until that happens it’s just a wildcat rounds.

.32 Federal Auto or 7.65mm Federal Carry would have been a lot better.
Which sounds good until you remember there is .32 ACP already, and was popular enough for long enough that older clientele would associate 32 Auto with 32 ACP instead of your new ammo.

Using 7.65 Federal or something similar but more unique like 7.64 as the name might work better.

But let's face it a great, memorable name, even one as crazy as some of the wildcat home-brews like 300 Werewolf, wouldn't save the cartridge.

7,65mm Federal sounds a lot better, I agree. Sounds martial.
Calling it .32 [anything] would have been retarded from a marketing standpoint since you'd hear that ".32" at the start and automatically call it weak since .32 is a weak number for a caliber. I think calling it 7.65 wouldn't have been much better since that makes it sound exotic and retards would go "7.65 is smaller than 9 so therefore weak" because the average person is a retard.

They'd think it's Russian and it would get banned.

New Donut, more Donut letting himself go physically.

If he's not going to care how he looks, he should either dig out the gimp hood he wore for a gear review parody video a couple of years back and wear it full time or invest in bavaclavas and start wearing them full time. Try and get that gimp/masked domme daddy audience that Administrative Results has cornered.

Jesus, he's starting to look like a character from a Gearbox game.
