Jhiaxus is beautiful, I’m gonna actually get all three major G2 comic characters by the end of the year. Hallelujah

Looking at those images again I realized Jhiaxus has articulated fingers and a wrist swivel. They really went completely all out with his robot mode compared to Leader prime, which is an earthrise retool that somehow REMOVES that articulation in favor of a balljointed static hand. That figure also looks great but that shit still bothers me.

I'm hoping that Legacy Motormaster has some inspiration from FanToys' Roadking.

Roadking was the only third party masterpiece Motormaster that converted the whole trailer as part of the bot. Something as big as MP-10 vehicle mode was just as tall as MP-10 robot mode.

I need to see what they do!

I doubt it since the grill on the feet is different that the one on the alt mode.

I didn’t paint Apeface, I wiped it clean and put a black wash on that gross white plastic. The detail popped and he immediately fit in with his Siege line-mates.

God, that would top it off, definitive (proper fucking colours) Jhiaxus and some goons?

I'm wondering if the weirdly inaccurate alt mode is a pretool for the generic soldiers given the shape of the jet modes in that shot. Of course, they clearly just use cyclonus as a base in the original drawing, but it's fully possible.

Were I Hasbro, I’d do a two-pack. A land trooper, retooled from Siege Ironhide and an aero trooper, retool of Jhiaxus.

All with those 90s skull faces and Geiger-esque tubes

I do think the jet mode is the end result of Jhiaxus being a blocky robot and a curvy vehicle.

The 86 bots are mostly smooth and organic shapes with alt-modes to match, almost everything else G1 is blocky. He would’ve had to be a shellformer to get his not-Scourge alt mode.

Plus from a marketing standpoint, his original alt mode might be too similar to Scourge, who is still on shelves as “Sweep.”

I could see them pulling what they're doing with the SG magnus where he's got his normal head and skull head as options. Knowing Hasbro, they'd probably go for another siege megatron retool or a blitzwing repaint for the land trooper's alt mode as they're tank based and the deeseus drone already filled the "ironhide bad guy troop builder" hole. I only ever got one of those still despite aiming to get more but if I did I'd probably try and make a custom or 2 of something in the style of that.

I bought two Deeseus drones for the sole purpose of converting them into G2 Cybertronians

Mindset and the troops drawn like him have that basic humanoid body.

I am excited at the prospect of figures having alternate heads now, alternate expressions, looks and paint schemes……. they’ve got so many options.

Oh yeah, I'm really fucking hoping that alternate angry beast wars megatron headsculpt that accidentally leaked out with some batches ends up in some kinda "deluxe release" of him now, even though that's probably not gonna happen it's like my one last hope of getting one with that head instead of a stoic frown. I'm not paying a scalper that managed to get one in a bulk lot they bought to scalp already anyways but interestingly I don't think scalpers have been checking for that accidental variant cause I've never seen a listing specifying that head being on there as a reasoning for price, though I might see it soon after sending this with my luck lmao.

I’m gonna order one, it’ll look good on “Premium Finish” Optimus. He’s already covered head to toe in battle damage and his pastel colours are crisp, it’s close enough to how Optimus looked at the end of the G2 comic.

One set was reading, the other set were never opened and each one was placed into a plastic sleeve, untouched. I paid the store where I purchased them an extra amount of money to ensure when they arrived I got to pick the 2 I wanted for each edition. It took some time. We are going back some years here.

Some years later - while abroad I found a guy who had an entire set in reasonable condition and he wanted a mint. Excited I called my mother and told her to take my special box out, open in and within that box was another box containing all the G1 comics, untouched. Pristine. New condition. Not a crease, not a single bit of fade, not even opened.

She told me she sold them at a garage sale cause "they were taking up space honey.".

I hung up the phone and drank heavily that night. The next night I called her back and apologized like a good son for hanging up on her and I asked how much she got for them anyways.

25 cents a copy.

I hung up on her, again.
