Games You Like But Everyone Else Hates

True Crime: New York City is still the greatest worst game to ever be released. If anything, I think the PS2 version is (slightly) better than the XBOX version, in my opinion.
Doesn't the Xbox version have a game breaking glitch where you can't beat that guy on the elevated shipping box.

I really liked True Crime: New York City just as a straight up cop game tbqh. I liked Streets of LA too, but I think I only paid like 10-20 bucks for them.

Halo 4: I do agree with the popular consensus that 5 was total poo poo. But 4 was alright. Past the godawful plot and the terrible despawning system, I enjoyed my time playing the game. Plus Spartan Ops was a lot more fun than the actual campaign itself.

Dead space 3: I would hate this game for ruining the horror atmosphere and going more guns blazing, but I enjoyed playing it with my friend last summer. Once you get some good coordination in, you can get some pretty cool moments.

Umbrella Corps: Barely got time in this game, but I really liked the concept of the gameplay mechanics and the character customization was pretty good.

I love this game’s style and even the feel of playing, but I suck so hard at it.

Do people hate Sleeping Dogs? I always thought it wound up being a surprise hit.

For me it’s Mark of the Ninja. It came out the same year as Walking Dead and got way short shrift because people were too busy jacking off about that game, and unfortunately Dishonored came out around the same time and did a lot of similar stuff.

But Ninja is fun, it’s got a great feel of speed and movement and the powers are cool. It lets you be stealthy or violent. It’s one of the few games I’ve played through twice. I didn’t find Dishonored that much fun, but Ninja is great.
Oh hey, I played both shank games, which were from the same developer, and liked them yet I forgot mark of the ninja existed. I remember wanting to try it back in the day but never got around to buying or pirating it.

Another game that I like is Spiritual Warfare for the NES, people don't like that it is a Christian rip-off of Zelda, but the gameplay is still solid and the map and bosses and everything is still different enough that you get a different experience. Also, people tend to make fun of the whole being a missionary that throws fruit at people, I think it is hilarious. Only thing I don't like is the second to last boss is kind of bullshit, it is this demon that moves really fast and it is a bit annoying, I would say it is even easier than Satan himself when you fight him.

The Co-op in DS 3 and RE 5 IS fun...but it still goes against what both franchises stood for.

Then again, most people play co-op in these games nowadays with total acceptance that what they are playing isnt scary at all so...*shrug*

Final Fantasy 2 (NES).

Played it for the first time a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. The leveling system is interesting and I would have liked to see where square went with it. The whole "hit yourself to level HP" thing is a meme and completely unnecessary as long as you're not running from every encounter.

Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link is also a solid 2d action sidescroller.

MK Mythologies Sub Zero, in concept at least.

Mortal Kombat had some great lore and it was a good idea to expand upon it instead of leaving all your eggs in one basket.

It simply needed a better team or at least a team that doesnt have game knowledge strict around fighting games.

Mortal Kombat did show that they can do other genres with their conquest modes and Shaolin Monks.

Mark of the Ninja is really good as a stealth game, it outlines pretty much everything with graphics: how far sound travels, how far people see, what is lit etc. It is a very nice stealth game.

It's not game per se but I kinda liked the excessive rim lights on characters that particularly EA used towards the end of the PS2/GC/Xbox era.

That system was carried over into the SaGa RPG series, which also includes Final Fantasy Legend 1 and 2 (3 was more of a traditional RPG with EXP and leveling). Of course, they started some other horseshit where all of your weapons were limited to a number of uses before they broke, instead...

I have the PSP version and really liked it. I battled so much I ended up hilariously overpowered.

Haha, I first played it on Final Fantasy Origins on PS1 and that was when I was super autistic about grinding and that system without exp truly unlocked my power. I seriously sent hours attacking my own party at the start so the whole game was just a cakewalk. It helped there was a small patch of land near the beginning that mistakenly had the encounter table of a much later area.

"Yo. You massacred 50 people with a minigun and then blew up several cars. You're demoted to uniform until you arrest three people"

Soundtrack was great as well. Great balance of genres which sandbox games beyond GTA have always suffered. Looking at Mafia 3 in particular.

I'm old enough to remember when Sleeping Dogs was being billed as the next True Crime game.

PoE2: Deadfire. The least favorite of the newer crpg game. I don't hate the story tbh.
Also thinking playing this thing again.

I liked Mass Effect Andromeda. By no means a perfect game, but are any of them? I didn't find it to have any more issues than any of the other games.

It felt like what Mass Effect 1 was trying to be, and went in the opposite direction of 2/3 which increasingly just made things mission-based cover-shooter tunnels and removed RPG elements. I liked the force unleashed biotics. I liked the planet terraforming. I liked the gear and ability customization. I even liked the Stargate Atlantis story for the most part.

I was really baffled how the big complaint was that NPCs were ugly, when Bioware games including all the Mass Effects were always full of ugly NPCs.

I went into Dragon Age 2 with extremely low expectations (because everyone said it was shit) and I ended up enjoying it quite a bit. It definitely has flaws (and the less said about the hilarious "boss fight" against the Qunari leader-guy, the better), but it's an enjoyable little game in its own right. I actually enjoyed it more than Inquisition, but that's not saying much because I fucking hated Inquisition.

Afrika.

People say it's a boring, low budget PS2 game but to me it was the last gasp of originality before Japan started trying to ape the West during the PS360 generation and trying to make Western games.

I enjoyed the fuck out of resident evil 6. It was a fun mindless shooter with the characters I liked. I just never understood the hate it got and denying it’s existence.

I'm sure the critics didn't like it, but I enjoyed Leisure Suit Larry - Magna Cum Laude. It had some flaws, but I thought it was really funny.
