I think the documentary has been dead in the water since Boners left the tranch; it also fits the timeline when Gash stopped mentioning it at all. I'd assume it's impossible to try and salvage it into some sort of feel-good documentary about a bunch of brave transwomxn overcoming the horrible transphobia in rural America, even if the potential drama that erupted since would probably make a better movie.

I like to be as generous as possible when it comes to cows, giving them the most I can in terms of judging their capabilities. Doing so I can say this:

No one on the TUR is smart, but not all of them are dumb. Phil is a case of not quite so dumb to be incapable of knowing an exit plan is needed. He's likely coming up with one. I suspect he'll follow a pretty standard woke playbook plan as well:
  1. Destroy as much of the tranch covertly as possible. Such as suggesting it's time to move on to other members of the tranch and simply not do the extra work needed to keep it on life support so it shrivels and dies.
  2. Leave the tranch taking is loyal followers with him. He's the cult leader, if any factions exist that we can't see, one of them is centered around him.
  3. Do a big "tell all" throwing Sky, Micro-Boner, and anyone else he needs to under the bus while saddling them with all guilt and expenses of the failed tranch.
  4. Start discussing the good he did, the work he did, and the role he planned, playing up any and all success he can as to being due to him, while burying any other success he can't take credit for as not existing while done playing any failures on his part as well as the role those outside his chosen circle of loyalist had upon the few successes of the tranch.
  5. Begin a new grift, something smaller and more focused. Something scalable so he faces less risk if it goes to hell as he's already saddled all previous consequences upon Sky, Micro-Boner and friends.
  6. Build Tranch 2.0 around himself.
  7. Fail.
  8. Repeat, but as one of the scape goats as someone else does all this to him.
I could see something like this happening. I kinda assume they dumped all their shitty roving onto the Lakota because they didn't have the money to process it into yarn (and even if they did, the yarn wasn't selling) but it could have been sabotage.

The only thing I can't work out is how Penny can afford to up sticks and move. Perhaps the subcontracting and Lakota grift are an attempt to build up money for an escape plan? I'm not sure how much they could be squirreling away given the running costs of the tranch, though.

The other main stumbling block is Kevin. Unless Penny ditches him on the failing tranch, he's going to have to contend with a petulant useless manchild draining his finances and demanding transport of a near-infinite array of plastic crap. The emotional fallout from asking Kevin to leave his plastic crap behind would be incredible though

I long for the alternate universe where Ash had the gumption to shift gears into making an investigative documentary into the Tranch implosion - with footage of Kindness faking seizures and squawking at Penny while there's a hushed argument between Bonnie and Sky. :c

I had hoped Ash would turn out to be a documentarian too.

A biblical style cleansing fire event would solve a lot of Penny’s problems.

The crap hoard would be gone, there would be nothing left for Bonnie and Kindness to swoop in on, and there would be plausible deniability for having no receipts re the various suspected financial irregularities.

One final grift to save / rehome the alpaca. Also it would be a valid inflection point to release Kevin and Jen back into the wild.

I reckon Kev would grift on Twitter for “emergency moving costs to prevent a trans woman from becoming homeless!!1!” and then spend the money on a moving lorry rental for his plastic crap. Then if he couldn’t fit it all in his new living space he’d rent a storage unit and grift for the fees as “rent” or something.

Maybe this is how the documentary ends and gets released? A noble, besieged Tranch, undone not by sloth and ineptitude, but by owners who just weren't tenacious enough.

Is this idea pure cope? If our show is getting canceled, I want a proper finale :(

I question the ability for Phil to dump Kevin like the useless sack of lard that he is even if he actually desires to do so. If Phil tried to ditch Kevin, Kevin could easily go cry aboose to Twitter and rake in the griftbux while simultaneously stirring up a shitstorm against Phil the effectiveness of which could range from very to not at all but destroying his (Phil's) E-clout for good.
Also it would be a valid inflection point to release Kevin and Jen back into the wild.
Kevin cannot maintain his current lifestyle/standard of living if he actually has to function like a normal adult and thus the option is a nonstarter for Kevin.
Will the Elusive Earl purge the Tranch with fire while little Kevie is OS?
Does the Tranch have Fire Insurance? I assume the answer is the same as “Is there a consistent supply of Electricity on the Tranch?“ and “Is there sufficient amounts of Animal Feed on the Tranch?“ that being No. But if yes than it is not impossible that an Arson could occur assuming Phil is actually not delusional and can crunch numbers.

Speaking of Earl, the biggest piece of evidence that Earl is real is that the Tranchers have not been constantly invoking his name in order to grift, IIRC the last time any of them did any “Security“-Posting was when they complained about (nonexistent) Drones surveilling them but that was a couple months ago. Since then they have been very quiet, they did not even try to grift off the nonexistent drones and the time between Earl hysteria and the drones was what? 8 months?

I saw here that the tranchers helping Pen are doing it for free?

So Penny is employing people to carry out his work and make himself a profit but not paying them?
So slavery then.
Did I miss a step?
Ach, not really, they’re there by choice. What the field troons get in return for (not much) work is lodging, or at least a rudimentary campsite. And at least in the past, a couple of dinners a week and a fix of estrogen.
It’s pretty normal for virtuous type farms (organic or other eco credentials) to attract unpaid labour for a season at least, for the experience, the outdoors, etc etc.
And if you factor in that these are supposedly “rescued” transes, they’re being provided a safe haven, in theory.

So I was laughing a bit that one of the recent departees was bothering to moan about “unpaid labour” like what the fuck did you expect.

The situation with Jarod and previously Sky on the dodgy building work is more interesting because there they are working for someone else, with payment. So I wonder how that gets divvied up.

It would be amazing if Phil just up, left and disappeared when Kevin goes overseas.

One thing that strikes me every time I see an update about their drywall job. All the tools are top of the line, very expensive and professional items that the quality of their work doesn’t justify. I half wonder if this is Penny’s escape fund. Just load all the tools in the truck one night and outta there, and he’s got a head start on a way to make a living in future or at least sell them for a quick buck.
