It's very unfortunate. Doulas can be a wonderful asset, especially during hospital deliveries. But like everything else, there are a few crazies and tards who have to ruin it for everyone else.

What gets me is that she lists her "current" neonatal resuscitation and adult/child CPR credentials from...... 2007. Licensed healthcare providers are supposed to renew that shit on a yearly basis. You don't just take the course one weekend and go "I'm good for the rest of my career!!" ... you continually have to refresh the material, understand/be fluent in the algorithms, and practice mock codes with your team, so that eventually when there's a dead baby in front of you, you can act competently and safely!!

I don't know how midwifery works in the states, are they even regulated? Is there a governing body to protect public interests as they embark on these "transformational journeys"? Wtf

...And it looks like the "Nevada Association of Professional Midwives" is exactly what that is.

She gave the board a reason to exist with her malpractice, and now she's the president of it.

Crunchy retards like Robyn get certified midwives which are basically unregulated and poorly trained by 1 yr distance courses. There are also nurse midwives which have evidence based training and what non-US countries mean when they say midwife. You can guess which one Robyn went with.

It does baffle me, what passes for a midwife in the US. In the UK they train for three years, just like nurses. They handle the majority of hospital deliveries (doctors only get involved when things are complicated). The midwives Robyn went for seem no different to a third world traditional birth attendants.

In the UK it's a legitimate nursing profession yes, totally different from most US Midwives. I knew someone who one day decided to become a Midwife, signed up for an online course, passed it and started their apprenticeship, within a year they were out practicing on their own. My state just took a step back, previously Midwives had to be licensed nurses who were also certified midwives. Now they can just be certified Midwives with no nursing degree. The reasoning was that the nurse midwives (similar to the ones in the UK) wouldn't do homebirths for safety reasons of course.

Does the hospital staff/MDs know there will be eminent demise at home? Sure.
The MDs will discuss this with the family extensively, but how much the family chooses to believe/comprehend is up to them. It happens all the time with patients that either enter hospice or should have entered hospice.
