It's an interesting adage and weirdly, I've encountered it repeatedly today from other people even irl. I think this actually may be the single biggest problem the world has today, or at least the world I care about. SJW-ism is the perfect example of people who would burn down society entirely in the pursuit of some perfect utopia (PROTIP: "Utopia" meant "nowhere"). Almost any kind of fanaticism is.I had a "the perfect is the enemy of the good" pep talk with my best friend; we playfully bitched about work, and I finished with some exercise.
I wish I understood decision theory more, because an absurd number of people today, given the choice between something kind of good and absolute shit, would choose absolute shit because kind of good isn't the perfection they claim actually to want. Why the fuck is that?
