Normally I would agree, but you pay into employment insurance every week so you can draw benefits when you're laid off or sick. You can draw benefits if you have to take time off to get open heart surgery. Why shouldn't you be able to draw benefits when you have a baby? You pay into this pot of money so you can draw if there's a gap in your employment due to a shortage of work or for health issues or other things along those lines. What logical reason would there be not to pay benefits someone who has taken time off to have a baby? By not supporting working women who want to have kids, it's like the US only wants unemployed white trash and niggers on welfare to be able to have kids.
You’re looking at this backwards.

Most companies worth working for and keeping a job after having a baby already have paid maternity leave (and paternity leave). Sometimes a lot of fucking maternity leave, to the point we straight up forget someone who had a baby is still employed.

Yeah, low wage jobs often don’t offer anything beyond what’s required by the federal and state level, but that usually isn’t important. The cost of childcare outweighs whatever the job pays, so nobody actually keeps working those jobs after having a baby. They just get support from either the husband, their family, or the state (see below).

The best welfare and tax benefits are given to people with kids, so the absolute garbage poors are getting subsidized anyway and don’t need paid maternity leave as they don’t need a job in the first place.

The (somewhat) lack of (Federal) maternity leave is really not a big problem here and nobody is not breastfeeding because of it. They are not breastfeeding because they are fucking retarded. Formula use started before the big Career Woman movement.

It is so great using corrupt shit holes as our factories/farms instead of our own nation isn't it?
I worked as a custom harvester; as a result I've been all over the wheat belt. I can count on my fingers the number of broad acre sunflower fields I've driven past. The only one I've ever harvested was contracted to a bird feed distributer in Colorado. For reasons I don't fully understand most farmers in the wheat belt want nothing to do with sunflowers.

Had been noticing a low or no stock on some shaving supplies here in the USA and one thing I was just recently made aware of is that virtually all of the razors for shaving are imported from China, Russia or others like Germany or Greece. That most of the blades from Gillette are made in Russia, both double-edge classic blades and the blade sections for the $$$ cartridge razors. Also after researching found that the domestic USA only has 1 razor blade manufacturer left, but they then ship the blades to Mexico for finishing and packaging. Amazingly there are forums out there just about mens shaving and grooming where they're pointed out just how big a player Russia has been in the global manufacturing of the humble razor blade, and with the world going nuts against Russia... don't 'spose that Russia will keep exporting those.

So with the supply chains being fucked for the foreseeable future and the Russia crap, for those of us who like to not look like unkempt hobos, things could get gnarly.

Hell yeah. I've already got a big, bushy beard, so this is a net benefit for me.

Well shit it's getting dark this time bros. Good news you can start feeding the baby food at 4 months

The worst part :

Baby formula, which three-quarters of babies in the US receive within their first six months, is increasingly out of stock at retailers across the country.....
mind you this is with a massive crash in births, a 40+ year low. so there should't be such a need for formula, unless women themselves literally are unable to breastfeed or some other genetic shit is happening.

a fuckload of medical malpractice is coming home to roost. all those side effects from the shit they shove in food are really starting to fuck people.
That's absolutely horrifying. In what world can anybody forgo basic biological fact, ignore the two visible, swelling organs on a woman's chest and think "Fucking pointless, just get formula, Mr Goldstein needs his interest!"

a world where the bad guys won ww2; literally.
The alternative is to pay workers enough that a father can provide for his wife + 2 kids on one income. That's literally unthinkable, and has been for 50 years.
Some may even call it ANTISEMETIC

BECAUSE UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE IS FOR NIGGERS, ITS NOT FOR YOU GOY!!!!!

not to be mean but men's facial hair has been accepted for over a decade now. The lack of razors will hit women much worse, how many men out there are into hairy armpits or legs? women have been shaving for the past century and trying to keep themselves as pretty as possible. There are going to be a lot of TERFs with mustaches and beards if the supply chain stops.

Hirsuteness making a comeback. Personally, I don't care for the wookie look.

Just in time supply chain "lean six sigma black belt" bullshit has been a disaster as we've seen, but also think of the land/real estate freed up from warehousing. Kinda wonder where those assets went.

The number of purchasing positions in large worldwide corporations that require that ridiculous "degree" (black belt, really? REEEE, toxic masculinity!!!) is too damn high.

Formula is one of the most frequently shoplifted items at any supermarket. When I worked retail, it was all either locked up, came in plastic cases, or had anti-theft tags on it. So someone out there is clearly finding it useful.

Just as shit was starting to get better some things I buy from china through retailers just got delayed.

I just got told due to China shutting down factories that my parts will be back in stock...in February 2023.

China must want to die economically.

In used car news, my dad bought a truck a few days ago.
10k. For a 15 year old Ford, 165k miles.
Thank god for my $500 (2017 price) pile of shit that just keeps running.
For used vehicles at least there is some evidence that the ridiculous inflation may be peaking. Zerohedge (per usual) has some nice stats up suggesting that a combination of supply chain normalization and demand destruction is limiting prices of late. Pretty much a chicken and egg scenario: like GPUs and general computer parts supply is slowly increasing and prices are tanking, but whether it stays this way (because consumers have given up) or reverses (because of pent up demand) is honestly anyone's guess right now.

Only thing I know personally is that I'm sticking with my 2005 manual Mazda 3 (battery issues and all) until I only have to pay for what I originally bought her for

Razor blades are a high-density, high-margin item that is never going away. The prices are just going to go up. Feather blades (the best in the world) are made in Japan and are not going anywhere.

That said, prices are definitely quite elevated. Checked my order history, and when I first starting buying Feathers they were $23 a pack and my order the other day was $40. Nearly double. I keep a couple years worth on hand so I'm g2g for a while, but if the prices keep going up I'll have to start reusing blades. Normally I use a fresh blade for every shave. The horror.

BTW if you shave, and you don't use a double-edge razor, you need to get a double-edge razor. Even with today's prices my cost per shave is around 50 cents all inclusive. Last vacation I grabbed a Mach 3 and it felt like shaving with a cheese grater.

Working on electrical projects just keeps getting more fucking annoying. Certain crimp connectors, especially in metric sizes for heavier gauge appliance wiring, have lead times into 2023 now. Literally $0.10 pieces of metal, and it's like searching for lost pirate treasure. My apologies to whatever other poor, damned souls need those Panduit crimps any time this year, but it was you or me.

Also, the wiring section in Home Depot looks like a swarm of methhead locusts hit it and devoured anything with the word "copper" on the label.
