But don’t just fuck around in the war zone either - keep your head down and don’t say much or don’t go around on video posting about how much you like Russia while you’re in Ukraine. Post anonymously. Make some new account and just clue in a few people that it’s you and have them promote you as the anonymous source inside Ukraine but for the love of God don’t show your face.

But again, I don’t have a dog in this fight really and would have personally just stayed out of it. Whether he died or not, this was a really dumb thing to get himself involved in.

He was hoping Russia would give him some kind of ministerial position once the conflict was over for all of his efforts there and then he would have an official position of power and the name recognition and success he so desperately craved. It’s kind of fitting that a narcissist would do this. He could also use his experience to silence all of his haters “I reported on things in an active war zone and earned my place in the Russian Government, what are you doing with your life?”. I dunno something like that. It is the best motive I can think of for why somebody would do what he did.

What makes that really retarded is that to be a member of the Russian government in any capacity from what I understand anyway is you have to have connections. Military, corporate, Church, or Union is typically how you get in. If you’re just some faggot journalist the oligarchs will basically say “oh thanks!” And pretty much ignore you for the rest of time now that you aren’t useful.

Alternatively he may have been planning to write a book about all of his experiences in a war zone hoping it would become a best seller and he could get all kinds of speaking events once the war was over and his book was published. That’s also a retarded idea. The west is not going to be sympathetic to Russia for a very, very long time. Most people in Pro Russian states don’t care to read about the experience you had gone through and I don’t even know if any major talk shows are all that relevant anymore.

I think it’d be funny if he initially faked his death then when trying to escape the city he got hit by Russian artillery or shot by a paranoid Ukrainian when he didn’t understand what he was saying.

be that as it may I agree,. Watched a few of his videos back in the skeptic-meme mid 2010s era; he had the very same huffing his own self-assured narcissism he criticised the west for even then. At least back then he was well groomed, but doubt his attitude or expectations of life improved at all.
