General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

It's only a matter of time before Vshojo implodes on a scale hitherto unseen in the industry, so I'd say easy number three.
Loads of rrats going on regarding the sham audtions at the moment, that vshitshow management have done the surprising and rejected snuffy from being part of the clique.

Guess being a vshojo orbiter doesn't get you in the door easily. Or management hardened down on it after veibae turned into an uncontrollable yab machine for them.

snuffy didnt get in? i dont watch much of vshojo these days, only see some clips here and there, but i thought the racoon was as sure thing. so who are the ones that got in?

I just got around to watch the latest CHADcast and I'm left with a question.
Calli used the term "Hot Gos."
There's only one other group that I know that uses that term.
Does Calli know who Dick Masterson is?

No. It's more likely that Calli still uses contemporary slang from anywhere between 1986-2010 because no one from Tokyo is going to pull her up on it.

I'd like to hear more about the details of this 'sham audition' if you're able to provide it. /vt/ doesn't count.

Right now I'm keeping my eyes on a developing little mini-drama emerging amongst NijiEN fans and the translation work is occupying my time. Yes, translation work, because it's the fucking Japs this time.

This is going to be a fun collab. I love Botan and Korone. I'm glad IRyS is starting to collab more with her JP Senpais. Lui is an old timer in the utaite scene who IRyS has occasionally worked with in the past so the Senpai vibes is really hard to shake off given their history. Another interesting note is the fact that IRyS is going to be the youngest in the group. All 3 JP Senpais are atleast 6 years older than her.

This is some Uta History. Mel is Red, Lui is Purple, IRyS is yellow and Hina from HimeHina is blue.

"All 3 JP Senpais" - see, it's not just IRyS. :story:

Very interesting! On one hand, even Calli has accidentally called Lui senpai. On the other, when chat pointed it out to IRyS she was like "Lui... -san?" Not even Sora intimidates her that way. ("Intimidate" is a much stronger word than I mean but you get it.)

This makes me wonder if IRyS is around their age? Because if it is.. Hags collab to shoot shoot he dead
See above - apparently she's 6 years younger than the next one up, which I can believe. (Also ninja'd.)

I can't remember who was leading in friendly fire though.

She called Lui senpai twice in the collab. The whole collab was chaotic but fun. There were 3 translators in Irys's stream. Lots of gaps but it's not that hard to follow when a lot of the stream was mainly composed of the girls screaming and Botan trying to keep them alive. Sort of. All died except her several times. Lol. Irys was leading in friendly fire in the first game. The girl was shooting her senpais straight on their faces. Pretty hilarious.

She asked for people who were able to help her a few weeks ago on Twitter (now deleted). They got in touch with her and she had very few requests, outside I imagine that she wanted them to stay close to her already established art (and possibly cat ears). Mainly because she wanted it fairly quick. The illustrator only took a few days, the rigger took a week. She was happy with the first draft and said it was really cute, and mentioned that even after she said that they made a few last-minute additions and changes. (like the Chuuni pose I bet)

That they managed that in such a short time speaks volumes about how hard Gura is being screwed over.
Didn't Gura say something at some point about not wanting a fancy model? I think the last updates she got (mostly the extra toys and stuff that she attaches) are all that she asked for. I think it's because usually she's a small face in the corner of the screen while she games.

A little numberfaggingobservation but how interesting the forgettable Kris was only having under 1k concurrent viewers but after some advice and collabing with JP senpais, she has now reached this number when I glanced at her current stream.

Her coming out of her shell(aka doing the JP totsumachi and collabing with them) really helped her case. I also think Anya has become more cheerful than before.

Gura has enough pull she can easily demand they replace the rhombus rigging if she was really annoyed about it.

They already got someone else to do the other outfits, so why not get him to sort out the base stuff too?

I feel the design went too far in the crazy direction. The default face has blank eyes, the bandages around her wrist, the weird doll, blood on her yandere face, etc. There's no setting that is just plain cute, it's all varying degrees of crazy.
Truth in advertising.

Seriously though, Rushia's been through some major shit recently due to her contract breaches and other issues coming to light, so that may be the way she wants to express herself. It's kind of like how George Lucas said he went way darker when making Temple of Doom because he was going through a messy divorce at the time.

I also wonder if maybe she wanted to go more crazy/yandere with her character all along but couldn't while she was with Hololive.

A few translated highlights:

EDIT: I just noticed, you can see Rushia's body language with this character. Definitely adds to the creepiness factor.

There are 4 Types of Hololive Fans:
1. Casual fan who has a few favorites that would watch whoever is Live right now in their sub feed. They are usually subbed to at least 10 Hololive girls. They will watch any collab you put out and will not care either way if it happens or not. They will feel bad though if the girl feels bad.
2. Simp who prioritizes his/her oshi and then watches other Hololive girls when their Oshi is not live. These people will also not care if a certain Hololive girl can't collab with a certain person unless the girl is sad about it.
3. Hardcore Simp who hates collabs and doesn't want any outsiders most of all. They will be happy if their girl only collabs with other Hololive girls but they prefer if she does it max twice a month.
4. Casual fan but is very loud in trying to express their concern about the girls not collabing with certain people. They want certain collabs to happen but they won't support nor watch the other party outside of the collab. lol.
No, the types of Hololive fans are as follows:
1. Normies: they only watch bigname members, preferably the ENs, a big part of gura's and calli's audiences is mainly these fucks, they only watch 1 or 2 members and forget anyone else exists, they couldn't be bothered to remember more than 5 wierd ass names anyway, these are also the people who keep shitty holo memes alive for months, the only other agencies they even know exist are vshojo and maybe nijiEN.

2. Casual fan: the quintessential holofan, knows most of the members, watches his favorites, engages in regular community activities and supports the popular opinion at the time, speaks like 10 words of japanese and tries to support his foreign oshis even though he can't understand them, populates r/hololive, knowledge of other vtubers is limited.

3. Rabid simp: Throws shitloads of money into his 1-3 oshis, probably has some kind of rabies as he defends his oshi agaisnt all criticism, hates other members that have slighted his oshi and constantly has schizoid episodes about it. These fucks fuel most of the doomposting/dramawhoring that goes on in the community, they also inhabit /vt/ and reddit.

4. Vtuber connosieur/saviourfag: They have transcended hololive and evolved into a completely new species, they understand that hololive is not the only agency out there and there is a much wider world beyond, of course this comes with drawbacks, mainly in the form of wanting to save and defend every vtuber in existance, since they are all valuable and deserve attention because EVERYONE IS SO TALENTED! mainly found in r/virtualyoutubers and twitter.

5. Hipster-antis/tribalfags: Disillusioned fans that have lost faith in the company or have just gotten bored of it, they found other groups to root for and now have to stick it to everyone about how so much better their new group of virtual waifus is, instead of just enjoying and supporting their own oshis, they feel the need to shit on everyone else's.
"Civil conversation"
Yeah, sure, it isn't the usual concerfagging like Holostars fagging. Seriously, how many times have people talk about collab ban this week alone? At thia point it's as regular as your usual Kiara/Calli doomposting
Funny how the people who are the most concerned aren't even holofags

Hawaiian here.

I guess this will be a little bit of power leveling but I did attend Kawaii Kon 2022 because my brother dragged me into it, I went to the DEMONDICE Q&A on Friday and the concert on Saturday (Teddyloid also tagged along as her DJ for the concert and had his own concert in Friday night too) because those were the events he's into (oddly enough he is aware of the vtuber stuff but is actually mostly into the DD stuff if you wouldn't believe it lol) and I'd say it was pretty regular from what you'd expect at an anime convention, aka it was sweaty and disgusting.

I was at the Q&A and didn't hear anything about vtubing, mostly industry stuff related to DD's music and the animation. Not one mention of it whatsoever and I was there the entire time. I would've expected spergs to nag about it but nope; all just about "Hey DD, what's your biggest inspiration in your art style?" "What influenced your music?" "How often do you reflect on your earlier songs?" etc. like completely normal stuff, it was actually pretty boring tbh.

Although the concert was fucking packed. I've been to Kawaii Kon before (it's pretty much the only convention they have in Hawaii, no one goes to Comic Con Honolulu besides boomers who only remember comic books from before the 90s) and this is the most packed I have ever seen for a single guest, and we've had guys like Aya Hirano, Steve Blum and Vic Mignogna come by before. I probably caught a dozen different diseases from all the fat and sweaty Samoans and Micronesians (they're basically our niggers) packing the concert, but overall was an alright experience I guess. Ears still ringing because my bro decided to be up close to the stage with the speakers but it was colorful and full of lights and both DD and Teddy harmonized pretty okay on stage. Teddy gave back-up vocals and did the instrumentals on his deck while DD did most of the singing.

Again, barely any mentioning of vtubing or Mori Calliope from even the fans. Tho again I don't know much about this stuff and I might have missed on subtler clues, but either way wanted to chip in since I've been there and saw it talked about ITT so why not.

There's one more day left at the con, but I'd say the fans have been quite restrained so far. Most fans been wearing DEMONDICE merch than they are any vtuber merch from what I can see, though it's pretty hard to regulate a crowd where even in the main ballroom (where the biggest events are held) its literally to the walls- it's so packed and when the concert was over it took me 30 minutes just to get to ground level since there was so much people crowding everywhere including the escalators.

AMA, I guess.
Did you or your brother take pictures? There doesnt seem to be enough of them circulating around on the Internet, considering who attended.

What kind of mental illness would inspire someone to get a cringeworthy fan tattoo of the girl who said that fan tattoos are so terrible that she's gonna cover up her own?
Someone who would get a tattoo of anything in the 'culture' of the thing they were currently obessessed with. The 'casual 'hardcore'' kind of fan.

It's not just the shittyness of the tatoo itself that kills me, but why the fuck would you put a date on it like people do the death of a family member/friend or birth of a kid?
