When I see Oliver come on screen, I have moments where I still can’t believe he actually did this. Rate me retarded or whatever, but I think he was actually an okay looking guy before. Unless you actually carefully watched his videos, (I’m talking pre-troon), you wouldn’t immediately see what a manipulative narc he was. (Regular viewers would see it though.).

I didn’t follow him at all before, so I thought he was just a rando leftist dude who was friendly with Contra. Maybe a little tryhard. Never could I imagine he’d pull the trigger on being “trans” and appear in public in his ridiculous Woman costume.

Shaun's YouTube videos are very substantive. His videos on the "Bell Curve" book, the nuke drops on Japan, and Charlottesville/Alt-Right are especially good. I am not saying that they are above all rebuttals — in fact, they are written and designed to invite rebuttals — but they are well-sourced, well-argued, and engaging. Shaun consistently does a better job of bReAdTuBe than any other person, and it's...interesting that he's the one guy who does it without any apparent need for fame.

Olly's videos are...a narcissistic vehicle for his self-promotion, cloaked in whatever casuistic nonsense is needed to give it the sheen of academia and objectivity. Fast-fashion for intellectualism, that's what Olly is is all about.

I can't speak for Shaun's Twitter feed, I imagine it's bad — Twitter is designed for insta-takes, which are bad. But I also don't care about that at all.

His video against Lauren Southern and the Great Replacement was absolute bullshit. He openly denies demographic change is happening and if it is, it's a good thing. Three Arrows did the same thing against the Iconoclast, insisting there was no demographic change, just fewer white people in any given area.

His Bell Curve video was shit. Alt Hype made a two hour response and Shaun's reaction was to private the video response in turn. He claimed to read the book yet understood nothing in it. So when Ryan Faulk too him to task, off he ran.

Now all he does is whine about Transphobia like Lonerbox and make demands of women.

For you not reading his feed - actually read it. He had openly admitted he doesn't understand why right wingers want to debate him and views them as "too nice" while openly hating them.

back when i was first getting into watching video essays (in spring 2019, i watched Lindsay Ellis’s critique of the end of Game of Thrones w/o knowing who she was and branched out from there) a Toob vid popped up in my recommendations and i watched it. i think it was the video where he’s dressed up like the devil or something. anyway i swear to god i watched it, thought “this person is a gross AGP and going to troon out soon” and then never watched another one of his videos again (he is so off putting to me that i can’t even hate watch with the rest of you and instead rely on this thread for commentary). wish i was more of an internet person back then as i would have posted my guess somewhere and then had proof of my one instance of a genuine psychic prediction.

It's kind of hard to explain but even if he showed it less as a dude, it was still just as visible, because that's not how any of my closer friends act. Part of it is maybe stereotypes- you'd expect a woman to be more concerned about appearances; the rest was a combination of him being "too weird of a guy", if that males sense. That and his sleazy mug and snobbish delivery. I almost feel bad for disliking him that early on without proof.

Yes!!! Me too!!!! I didn’t understand how anyone could stomach him. Somehow even the still images for the videos grossed me out, and when I finally clicked one thinking maybe there’s something there if he has so many views and he was such an obvious cluster b I couldn’t muster more than a few mins!
