Calli is a kind of a dork and her music is mediocre, but the amount of hate she gets has always seemed disproportionate.

Probably because she comes across as fairly well-adjusted and sociable, which are two things the /vt/ fandom seems to know very little about.

Calli isn't terminally online and doesn't often bend the knee when a bunch of shit gets thrown at her, something that Twitter absolutely hates.

Youtube was recommending me some random vtuber and I tried giving it a shot but I just can't enjoy this shit, even the ones with somewhat more normal voices all have such weird demeanors.

It can be an acquired taste. And despite what some say, they're not all the same; maybe one will "click" with you if you keep trying.

That aside, as a fan, I at least appreciate that you tried (and admitted to trying) rather than spamming the thread(s) about men with voice changers pedobaiting for shekels etc. etc.

After the debut of the Nijisanji EN vtuber group Luxiem at the end of 2021, the group quickly became public enemy #1 in the /#/ numbers thread on /vt/. Being male, EN, and from Nijisanji immediately triggered three strikes for /#/ posters and the group was scorned immediately. Their rapid growth compared to the rest of Nijisanji and Hololive causes shitstorms every time their numbers are discussed, and tribalfagging in /#/ has increased significantly in 2022. Due to the overwhelming popularity of female vtubers on /vt/ and the gachikoi audience that pervades the board, the perception of Luxiem's audience as SEA/Chink fujos also angered /#/ for drawing their female counterparts into the vtuber fanbase. This ire was also further exacerbated by the infamous Discord leak last month where Niji EN vtubers were numberfagging in a private chat, infuriating /#/ posters and declaring "all out war" to prove them wrong.

/#/'s vitriol and autism is mostly limited to the thread and any leakage is contained on /vt/. However, the past week of high view Niji EN streams and the upcoming birthday of Vox Akuma (Luxiem's top vtuber) on the 25th have kicked the tribal wars into overdrive and caused a large argument over whether or not they are botting/viewfarming. The shitflinging culminated yesterday, when an anon in the thread had the brilliant idea to bot one of the Niji EN girls, Millie Parfait, in order to try and replicate male Niji EN stream graphs to prove they were botting.

As far as I know, this is the first instance of someone on /vt/ posting direct proof that they maliciously botted someone. This is a new low for /#/ and is the first time I know of that something from that thread spilled out of containment and directly harmed a vtuber. That specific thread is a complete shitshow and is full of deleted posts from people getting banned and Holo and Niji fans raging at each other. Considering how cheap it was and how autistic the fanbases are, at worst this may lead to bot/viewfarm wars in the future. If that does happen, it would actively harm more talents and ironically cause YouTube to implement even stricter view filtering, enraging /#/ further with lower numbers.

It was interesting, "scientifically," in that someone did a thing that showed on the graph.

/vt/ is more about banning posters than about vtubers. This was their finest hour.

The problem I have with vtubers is the same issues I have with regular streamers. They barely have a personality of their own. It's their chat that truly drives the engagement, they are the ones that make the suggestions and guide the conversation. They are trying to impress or provoke the girl. It's the men in the chat attempting to compete with each other that is actually the source of entertainment. The best you can get out of the ybtuber is an emotional reaction in some way because you were able to provoke her in some way. Almost every highlight clip I've seen is a result of the chat.
