Why do people have so much faith in Tesla? Their Self Driving Program, while more advanced than other legacy car companies, is a joke compared to the stuff from dedicated SDC companies like Waymo and Cruise. They had the first mover advantage in EVs, but 10 years later they still have major fit and finish issues, and the overall luxury for the price point is just awful. When I step into a new $80k Model S, except for the large screens it feels comparable to a $35k Accord Touring.

There are things I like about Tesla, but their market cap is higher than every other automaker combined, even with this slump. Why do people believe that once other automakers start mass-producing EVs, Tesla will still be competitive, when you can't sucker everyone into the "it'll be full self driving one day, I swear" scam, and most people care about more than just how advanced the ADAS setup is.
Short tesla then I mean I neither know nor care why people like it other than I've read tesla drivers really like the vehicles

They’ve got the best chance of delivering the highest number of cars, because they’ve heavily invested in battery production. That’s all there is to it, everyone else is going to be supply constrained for the next 5 years or so.

Disclaimer: I do drive a Tesla (best car ever and best charging network hands down), and I fucking hate Elon Musk.

Can't our autistic overlord just base the server elsewhere in another country to scoot around this draconian overreach? Tech-retard here BTW in case you was still wondering.
No other country has as strong of speech protections as the US.

Try putting those servers in nearly any other country and they'd be shut down immediately. For all its faults, the US is the one bastion of liberty-over-feels in the world.

While I completely agree with this, its infeasible to actually run a website like Twitter with this mindset. Musk is walking back slowly his promises for obvious reasons. Fuck I wouldn't want Twitter to be another /pol/. It would turn into political extremists trying to be one step ahead of the other. Eventually people would end up threatening violence (in minecraft) or even acting on it. Do you think Amazon Web Services would love having this on their server? What about as previously talked about, Apple have this on their app store?
Implying that this isn't what Twatter is right now

I think Amazon and Apple don't want to get buttfucked in court by the richest man in the world

Reports coming out saying what we already knew, that Twitter overstated it's amount of users. Can't Elon sue or make their lives miserable for that? Will he? I know I sure as fuck would.

Enough partying. Biden

That only applies to small sites like the farms. When you're big, you can buy protections in a small corrupt country in exchange for taxes - this is why Google's european branch is in Ireland. They get lower taxes and unofficial protection from GDPR (which they certainly ignore and exfiltrate user data to the US), while Ireland, being only like 5M people, gets a massive budget boost.

Literally every one of these social media giants is up to shit like this, don't hold your breath on any legal ramifications.

Also I still don’t know what a checkmark does.
At first it was simple verification, I have a checkmark so I really am this person. Whether using my real name or a pseudonym. This account really is the account of this politician or businessman or movie star or internet famous person or whatever.

Then it became a status symbol and a game for Twitter bureaucrats to play.

In the near future you will be able to pay monthly for a blue check mark and filter out all non-verified accounts (whether viewing or being able to comment on your posts). So anybody who wants their posts reached will have to subscribe

To give you a straight answer (instead of a homosexual one): It let's everyone know you're "verified" to be the person you claim you are in your bio. i.e. I could go on KiwiTwits, make @the_real_vbssimp and without a checkmark the great unwashed masses might be bamboozled into thinking I am the True and Honest vbssimp.

In praxis it just let's you know who the certified retards are.

Problem is if you at all the numbers the "error" is only about 0.5% of their claimed users. That doesn't sound "material" to me, although if Musk wanted to decrease what he's offering this is the sort of ammo that gets used for that. The non-disparagement agreement for the purchase probably limits for now how miserable it'll make their lives. As it is, the board can pretty well assume they're all going to lose their cushy positions on it, we've been hearing they own almost no stock in Twitter and get paid mid-six figures to be on it.

Perhaps something bigger will come to light in the due diligence review I assume is already in progress. For the moment this is small potatoes, and probably also that compared to their "burning the evidence" phase of reducing how much thumb pressure they're using to tilt the platform hard to the Left.

Typical blue checkmark tweet that appears under the 'More Tweets' section of any random page:

It basically just shows that you are actually who you say you are. This matters if your a well-known public figure.

I'll use Markiplier as an example here (mostly because the juvenile side of me still thinks that a good chunk of Twitter waiting for him to tweet that he farted is hilarious). I've seen a fair number of accounts over the years that pretend to be him. More often than not, these accounts are used to try and either scam or pray upon the more gullible members of Mark's fan base. (I think we can agree that a sizable portion of Mark's fans are literal children.) The lack of a checkmark is an easy to understand indicator that the account isn't actually Mark and thus should be blocked and reported.

Kind of like the verified tag on here.
