Todd being in this company is not surprising but very disappointing if you enjoy his content. Of course this will back fire when they inevitably eat their own as these types always do. Fish and Todd are based in LA, Angelina in Philadelphia, Weekes in NYC and Sarah Z is Canadian so it's likely in California? Patreon money going towards health insurance plane tickets and partying.

Lindsay couldn't write novels but can "write" bad reality TV! This is probably the smartest move, although she would have to keep her head down and do the job. Maybe she can pull it off? At least Jenny Nicholson's Patreons can feel like they're funding actual content.

She's a very serious documentarian and author lol. This turn of events is beautiful. As to what's on the Patreon post, I'll not helping fund her alcoholism and the post isn't on the usual piracy sites yet. Maybe some kind simp will share their bounty.

You'd be surprised what publishers will do for a modicum of publicity. If you check out the YA Bookgate thread, we go in to more discussion how the publicity machine is mostly churned by female bloggers who will have some passing name recognition with Lindsay Ellis above and beyond TGWTG. (Sadly even I knew about Ellis more and only found out about the rest of the "ecosystem" afterwards.... mostly through KF. In some corners of the internet she is the bigger name.)

My other supporting evidence is that her agent is more of a hipster hanger-on, so he's not acquired her as part of a suite of authors. She's the meal-ticket for him.

Publishers will look at big names, a good looking author photo (that fits some of the diversity points) and THEN and MAYBE THEN the writing. Even they know it's all about the publicity machine over quality. It's so infuriating.

Well, at least Lindsay isn't pulling a Spoony. However her plan is not good because it shows she just wants a hugbox where everyone will praise her and not criticize her. Only fans of Lindsay are the ones still giving money to her on Patreon after not making a video for almost 6 months. She will probably be safe from Sexual Harassment when working on that Kardashians show because I don't think any two time academy award winners are working on that show.

Why Lindsay Ellis? Do they not watch her videos? She knows jack shit about fashion, make up, sex, parties or just socializing in general.

I predict she'll leave after a season or two after realizing that this is too hard for her to take as well.
