RationalWiki has had tons of drama in the past several weeks and the website has been on a major decline thanks to batshit crazy pedo defenders like David Gerard and anti-Semitic loons like Mona Holland, but at the beginning, the intentions of the site were to take the piss out of Conservapedia, which had a lot of the same problems that RW is going through right now.

Conservapedia was founded by Andrew Schafly, the son of fellow clown Phyllis Schafly, and the website even today is run in an authoritative way, such as what happened in this fine edit.

People there were so butthurt about the atheism page being edited so it wouldn't be so spergy to look at that the pussy mods locked the fucking page.

Schafly himself decides to show off his intellect in the edit history of the page on Jesus Christ.

Conservapedia/RationalWiki is a self-described conservative and fundamentalist Christian alternative to Wikipedia. While the project began as an attempt to collaboratively develop an online encyclopedia, it has become in recent years a vanity project for its founder Andrew Schlafly (David Gerard), who uses the site as a way to forward his own particular insights on matters political and scientific. The site has a few other regular editors and administrators, most of whom use it to publicize their own projects or to write articles on their own pet causes. There is, in effect, no way to speak of "Conservapedia/RationalWiki" as a collective voice or as a reflection of the insights of a larger community; what goes on the site reflects nothing more than the views of Schlafly and the handful of people he trusts with full editing privileges. The problem is separating what Schlafly and his cohorts write as truth from what the trolls (and there are many) edit onto the site. Basically, the entire wiki is one giant Poe's Law.

That incident where Schafly (aka Assfly) debated the research of a biologist on E coli bacteria and pushing his creationist views, where even Conservapedians noted that the research done by said biologist is well done enough.

It's interesting to note he wanted to examine the results personally and see the evidence, but the scientist said he'd need specialized equipment to prevent contamination and the like, which Assfly promptly ignored and just kept calling the data falsified IIRC.

It's hard to tell, they do seem very active. Are there any prominent Conservipedos besites Shafly? The thing I loved about RW is I came for Ryulong and discovered a whole crop of delightful spastics to laugh at. I.. I don't want to be tricked into laughing at trolls.

Conservapedia isn't meant to be a wiki about conservatism, it's meant to be an equivalent to Wikipedia but without liberal bias. That's why they have a lot of articles that have nothing to do with politics, they're trying to be Wikipedia.

Second biggest, I remember a community that flipped right out after people started passing around a .pdf with their twitter names and a tumblr that rehosted their pictures from their pics thread and copypasta from their 'Coping Thread'. But then again, at least they never went full Stalin and shut everything down while permabanning their own just for posting on tumblr.

Last time I checked RW doesn't allow you to mention what was Zoe Quinn's previous legal name (Chelsea Van Something) but for some reason it's totally kosher to mention User: Conservaitve's real name even though he clearly is not interested in it being known.
