After having time to digest this I’m coming to the conclusion that this is ultimately a bad thing. While I generally support states rights, I value natural rights more. Being able to do something to one’s own body, even if it’s fundamentally destructive, immoral, and a sin, seems to me like a natural right. (We don’t ban guns just because murder is illegal.) To go against it seems like a step towards blue state tyranny. Consider that the Bill of Rights was originally not even considered necessary to codify. I do believe we have natural not explicitly defined in any legal documents.
That said, I can see a mechanism where prosecution or suit after the abortion can be used to criminalize without violating natural rights. That is, getting an abortion can be legal while destroying a fetus can still be considered murder. In that sense, getting an abortion to protect one’s own life can be deemed ‘self-defense’, etc.

It is frustrating how such a rare occurance--a woman actually getting an abortion--is allowed to totally derail attention from the exigent harm that is ocurring in real time, that affects ALL Americans; the wholesale looting of our economy. Shame on rank and file lefties for failing so hard at having their political priorities in order that they are enabling this economic war on themselves and their peers by prioritizing this issue over more important problems.
The vast majority of women do not want to ever get an abortion and will not ever get an abortion. So by prioritizing this over bigger problems they are in fact causing far greater societal harm to vastly larger numbers of people.
And yet even within the bounds of this debate they are totally incapable of even acknowledging that there are parameters to the subject that deserve consideration. Ignore the jurisprudence and the constitutional factors for a second and consider the reality that there are in fact red lines on this practice, red lines that exist within the moral framework of people on both sides.
When is it not okay to kill a child? After conception? After a heartbeat? After a child's body could survive on its own? After birth? After the last toe leaves the vaginal canal? After the cord is clipped? After the first grade?
This line exists within the mind of all people--and is in a different place for each person--but it exists! And deserves to be acknowledged and debated--and legislated! But, by-and-large the pro-choice crowd performs a great feat of mental gymnastics by pretending that it doesn't exist. This is not only intellectually bankrupt but it also makes constructive debate impossible.
So by plugging their ears and locking themselves into this padded room of intellectual gridlock, the left makes it impossible to engage in discussion and impossible to engage in compromise. It is a stalemate that is rising to the level of a religious crusade, and when the dust finally settles may actually be reflected in the history books as having the same level of signifigance in shaping the course of our future, a topic that does not warrant this level of societal focus during a time in which far bigger issues are happening.

I don't think it necessarily has to have more rights, but there's also a point where even if it's still in the womb it's more capable of thought and experience than an adult in a coma, and yet we still love keeping vegetables going on the vain hope they will one day be functional again. If you take a fetus out of the womb at... what are we down to 24 weeks? Guess what though, it can survive despite the untimely entry into the world and become a fully functional human. In fact, it's going to come out moving and reacting like any other living animal.
A fertilized egg with 1- a few hundred cells obviously isn't having thoughts. It has not yet differentiated into neurons and other cell types. Lots of those don't even implant, so a morning after pill is unlikely to be a great evil. As it continues to develop though, that becomes more complicated.
Once it looks entirely like a small baby. Once it's past the point where it could make it outside of the womb as a premie, even if you argue that a female shouldn't have to keep housing the fetus, there's no justifiable reason for why she should be able to kill it and tear it to pieces. If we had the technology to suck a pregnancy out at any stage and grow it in a vat how can you argue that the woman as a separate person should have any say over whether this other creature lives or dies? We generally don't even like people who go around killing animals even down to insects for no reason.

Which really begs the question of whether the ruling has changed in the past 2 months. Decent chance it has I'd say, if this is a coordinated thing. (and it appears to be with how fast donation call emails went out - immediately). Maximize all that incoming donation money now with a not-actually-relevant leak where if they waited till June and it's a narrow ruling that doesn't overturn Roe they wouldn't get nearly as much in donations.
