Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
Mike ''JJ Abrams should have directed the prequels'' Stoklasa
Jay ''Daisy Ridley is CHARISMATIC AS HELL'' Bauman
they were never stars wars fans, mike always prefered star trek. they also suck in general. look up their idea for a star trek tv show.

for fucks sake Mike actually said Piccard season 1 had an amazing plot until Rich told him it was a complete rip off of mass effect. these assholes don't even know nor bother with EU in any medium either.

After watching the Force Awakens trailer again. I'm glad I didn't fall for the hype. Hell, it was wrong from the starting line. The fact that Kylo had Anakin's burned remains was enough. If he was a Force user and was a Sith, why couldn't he just talk to the spirit of Anakin?
Kylo in my opinion was just a communist faggot who just wanted to "try real imperialism". He had a living mother and father he could go to, but wanted to be trained groomed by a crusty old freak.

The TFA Half in the Bag video damn near made me stop watching RLM entirely. Watching them trash the prequels for being bad (mostly for good reason) yet praise TFA even though it sucked too JUST because it read like a checklist of all the dumb shit they wanted the prequels to be left me completely mystified. Then Mike made that pathetic excuse for a Plinkett review of TFA where he couldn't bring himself to actually criticize the movie because he liked it too damn much. Oh yeah, and other retarded opinions like:
Rich saying star wars is a very limited setting, despite the EU making bank off so much material since the 70s.

I kept watching them afterwards but stopped watching some time after the TROS video. They're extreme OT purist boomers who know fuck all about Star Wars past the OT. They should just stick to Star Trek.
FUCK, I forgot they even said this, why the fuck did you have to remind me, Jesus Fucking Christ
Remember when we had to pretend Daisy Ridley was a good actress? Remember when people thought Snoke was "interesting", Kylo Ren was "Anakin done right?". Remember when people thought it had to be an OT rehash to "remind people of when Star Wars was good?" (jfc) Remember when we thought Disney had a plan?

I really don't miss the pre-2017 era of Disney Wars.

Rise of Skywalker has a scene in the finale where the heroes of the Resistance ride on alien horses and racing across the hull of a Star Destroyer taking off into space.

And yes, it is every bit as retarded as it sounds.
I am  almost willing to bet Furloni had watched only the opening of one of these and thought it would be great to put into his movie.

Addendum.

edit:
Are we at that point in the thread again where we try to blame Disney's fuckups on a bunch of alcoholic Wisconsinites?
I don't blame two drunk comedians from Milwaukee for anything. Personally, I just think their TFA review and Vader Armor video (which was just wookieepedo quoting) were trash (that and their Suicide Squad review) and that too many people treat them as the primary authority on star wars when they're quite clearly trek fans first and foremost as @Kramer on the phone points out and have shown that they have little interest in the franchise beyond its production values and childhood nostalgia for the first film.

My blame only goes to Alan Horn, Iger, Filoni, Kennedy, 'fans' like Andrew Dobson and HelloGreedo, gay reactionary movies like the People vs George Lucas, that "murdered my childhood" slogan that went around among gen xers (and the MSM), George's adopted kids for refusing to continue their stepfather's legacy, and Hollywood elites, mainly those who found ways to undermine and replace ILM, THX and other George companies to cut off more of his and Lucasfilm's revenue.

The last two (George's stepkids and Hollywood) were undoubtedly the most detrimental and spelled doom for Lucasfilm from the get-go while Iger, Kennedy and Horn just took advantage of that to further their own rise in the entertainment industry.

I know Tatooine is central part of Obi Wan's story at this point I'm the timeline but I'm so sick of seeing Tatooine or any other generic desert planet at this point.
They don't know how to make it interesting. I know it's not fair, but Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad manage to make New Mexico interesting. Tatooine could be interesting if they understood the criminal underworld. But, as we see with Borba Fett, they can't even make a crime show right.

Hell even the hutts were turned into big nothings in Book of Bob that were too scared of Filoni's cocaine fishboys to protect what has been a world iconically associated with them since freaking ROTJ, so they just up and leave it. The criminal element is so poorly explored that it makes you realize how little Filoni understands organized crime or hierarchies.

I mean its not too surprising considering how he had one crazy ex-sith zabrak and his crazier brother easily take over the Black Sun in like two seconds.

Since Disney bought Star Wars they've given us:
2015 - Planet that looks like Tatooine (TFA)
2016 - Another planet that looks like Tatooine (Rogue One)
2019 - Another planet that looks like Tatooine and actual Tatooine (Mando S1 and TROS)
2020 - Tatooine again (Mando S2)
2021 - Tatooine again (BoBF)
2022 - Tatooine...again (Obi Wan Kenobi)

That's not even bringing up how they lifted the OT aesthetic for everything they've made even if it took place after the OT. Did they expect people not to get tired of this? If the D+ shows are anything to go by I guess they aren't.

Daisy was fine in TFA. The issue is the character was written poorly and never went anywhere interesting. So it was just more of the same and became uninteresting.

RLM never have understood Star Wars. I think their understanding is similar to the "people" who made the dumb sequels. They never knew or cared about everything outside of the original trilogy. That is all they see Star Wars as.

Star Wars worked in a couple of ways. It was a a good set of films set in a much bigger universe. There is a distinction between people who just enjoyed the films for just what they were. Versus those that enjoyed the films but saw the bigger universe and were curious about it.

Daisy was fine in TFA.
Daisy was "fine" insomuch as her performance doesn't completely ruin the movie but that's also because the movie is so underwritten and filled with problems that her acting ended up being a minor issue with the whole thing. Everybody in the movie acts circles around her, Boyega and Driver especially, which is a huge problem because she's the main character of the film.

Unlike Hamill or Christensen she never improved acting wise from film to film like they did. She's just as wooden in TFA as she is in TROS which isn't helped by how terribly the character is written the entire trilogy.

There was also the not-Tatooine from Plan IX: Rise of Soywalker.

Mando also had a third not-Tatooine.

There's also the planets that didn't used to be Tatooine but are now Tatooine.
  • Taul used to be a toxic swamp planet, but then it became another not-Tatooine for those 3PO's red arm tie-ins.
  • Mandalore used to be a varied rainforest planet, but then Filoni Wars made it another desert planet, which was ignored and retconned back into a jungle planet soon after, but then Disney bought it and it became a desert again.
  • Ryloth used to be a gravity-locked planet of eternal cold and eternal heat on each side with a strip of calm in-between, but Filoni Wars tried making it into not-Tatooine but that was quickly retconned back to not being not-Tatooine. But then Disney bought it and it was re-retconned back into not-Tatooine.
Might as well just have all these appearances be Tatooine if they're not going to bother giving any of these new desert planets anything unique to set them apart.
