"Why no one's talking? There are 350 people here and no one's talking..."
"Isn't that weird? It says that we have 350 people here, but no one talking in chat... It doesn't make sense, right?"
Phil doesn't read KF, btw.
Edit: After a few minutes of saying that, he lost 140 viewers.
Edit2: now he lost 160.
He went from 350 to 190. No buffering, it just plummeted.
Heh. Hi Phil. You better light a fire under OIC's ass. Come on, we all know his typing speed is fast-ish. Let's see him LARP a conversation between twenty people, try to justify the obvious botting. More issues that will arise shortly:
- Try to justify 400+ memberships with a dead channel with 160-300 viewers who don't even chat.
- The rewards system is simply not good enough to entice anyone. Get to chat without slow mode where nobody chats in the first place. And that's it. No members only content, no members play sessions, nothing. Just no slow mode on a tumbleweed chat.
- While the whales can provide like spamming, I doubt they can provide an active chat. That shit takes actual time and effort, more so than setting up a few scripts to auto-like every stream you put up. They could spam with chatbots, but I doubt it'd work very well.
- Some dents might feel they're not getting enough attention. God knows people like Anony legitimately enjoyed DSP chat, for some reason. I suppose being a degenerate helps, but even Derich's gonna move on to dentier pastures at this pace.
What I will say is thus and beat a dead horse: bots don't help your channel grow if your not actually entertaining and engaging in chat. So if Phil or a pay pig are botting they are wasting their time and money.
Hit the nail on the head there. Bots will help you get discovered if you can hold an audience. They can be a good move in many cases. For Phil, master supreme of the Bugsnax and first ragequitter of fucking Kirby, they're simply not gonna do much. Like many people pointed out a million years ago, I think the first or one of the first to word it like this was Actually, Phil vets his audience in the same way that 419 Nigeran Prince scams do. His opener is extraordinarily dumb, so anyone smart enough to not fall for it has already dipped, leaving only the dentiest of the dentheads.
Problem is, he needs a modicum of success to attract and hold dentheads and whales. But ever since Yakuza LAD broke him, he hasn't played anything challenging at all, ragequitting at the first sign of trouble. That, coupled with his new stalling approach has made him unbearable to watch, which translates to his newly acquired almost total irrelevance.
I think this bears repeating: If OIC wanted to utterly fuck Phil over and completely destroy his career from the start, his plan, while boring as hell, was actually incredibly well put together. Phil's been getting comfy with just having his top whales bankroll his lifestyle, and he's not branching out to anything that could potentially report any profits in the short term should one or all of his whales flee the pigpen. He only plays easy shit, ragequits at the first sign of trouble, and stalls to punish restreamers and TIHYDP. He does all of his begging mask off now. He still blantantly breaks his promises to this very day, like reacting to his own Down The Rabbit Hole, haha just kidding I'll do Wingo's.
The bots could very well contribute to that, not necessarily orchestrated by OIC himself, but by a well intentioned whale or dent who doesn't realize he's actually helping Phil delude himself into thinking he's a success rather than scramble to face the crisis and course correct while there's still time. Maybe put fighting games back on the menu. But after a year and a half of taking nothing but the easy way out, I doubt Phil has it in him any more. He'd probably rather fade into complete obscurity and try to go on welfare than have to put down his walksims and kid games and get his ass beat in a real videogame.
